I'll admit it looks better

It does look better, but yeah... Not worth the price, IMO. I'd have to be a ST fanatic to want to pay for that.

Season 2 has never seen before footage, right? Probably explains why it costs more than Season 1. Season 1 looks good, but audio is still "eh" at best, at least in Farpoint...but I only have watched Farpoint so far as I only get the set on friday 🙂

I'll live with my original versions on dvd. I can adjust my tv's color if i want it to look a bit brighter. 🙂

The video quality took a massive jump. Not a $114 jump, but a major leap forward. I like that aspect. If I can stomach all of the 1st season, I'll comment on the overall audio quality more.

Someone on cable is airing the BRD version as I caught an episode at work today from across the cafeteria. I couldn't help but think it looked better than I remembered it (from 50 feet away anyway). As I got closer I realized it was some "enhanced" version. It looks good, no doubt. I am surprised how good the makeup held up to 1080... a lot of shows from that period just look terrible because the makeup is so bad. It's a tribute to the folks who made the show how good they did on the makeup.

They tried hard because it was shot on film. The film conversion to video dictated the light and make-up had to use minimum levels of quality.

My beef was when they switched to the movies and the lighting got all weird.

Well, the lighting went the way of the DS9 lighting. Darker.

Nice, definite improvement on the aspect ratio over Season 1 that has it at 4x3.

They ran Season 1 at 4:3 still, because while shot in 2.33 or something, you could see camera equipment in A LOT of shots, since when filming they knew it was for TV.

I figure in a few years when all the seasons have been redone there will be some box set on clearance one day that I'll get.
