Anyone seen reviews of this yet? From the specifications it looks by a mile the best 19" CRT around, and the price is damn good as well. What's it like in real life? Is the 1800x1440 @ 85 Hz realistically useable, or is 1600x1200 @ 100 Hz the better option?

I've heard good things about Iiyama monitors in general. I would really like to buy that monitor too, but it is $70 over my price range. Personally, I don't think that 1600x1200 is even really useable on a 19" monitor. Games wise it is very nice, but I don't think I could surf at any resolution past 1280x960. Maybe my eyes are just bad. I've heard people speak very highly about the monitor that the 454 is taking over for so I say, if you got the money, go for it.

I have a 19" Belinea 10 60 20 at the moment and at 1600x1200, the text size is OK, but the 75 Hz refresh rate really makes it hard to use for long. That said I do occasionally switch to it for Visual Studio, when the extra space is really valuable, but normally I stick to 1280x1024 @ 85 Hz.

The 454 is pretty reasonably priced in the UK, I've seen it for £340 inc delivery, which is about $480, which puts it on the expensive side of 19" monitors, but not excessively so (many of the top of the range ones are about £450-£500)

Im looking at a review of the 454 from the upcoming issue of PC Pro (UK magazine) which should be in the shops any day now....its successor, the 451, was their previous top pick just a couple of months ago, and they felt the 454 was also top notch so it took over as their top choice 19".

I wouldnt really convert £ to $ like that....doesnt usually tend to hold true in comp land, meaning us brits tend to pay through the nose comparatively :(

Certainly, if i was buying another monitor ( ive got a 19 and 17, i think id buy another 19" for a tri-monitor setup and spend the change on somthing else before i considered a 22"....) then itd be the 454 at this point.

Err, to answer the question...they didnt feel it was too hot at 1800, and recommended 1280x1024 as usual for a 19"...if your looking for higher res as a main res, think you need to look at a bigger monitor really...
