I may be mistaken, but I thought win2k comes with IIS 5. Can't check mine right now.

But that doesn't answer the question. I'd like to know too, I recently had to install IIS on NT 4 for someone and could find no way to figure out which version I had after installing all the software and patches, I resorted to using telnet and reading the HTTP headers.

In a way it does.. AFAIK IIS 5 cannot be installed on NT 4. No way, no how. (if someone has succeded with this please let me know)

So if you can determine OS you can determine IIS version. as puck guessed rightly win2k comes with IIS5.

One quick way of determing IIS version is to click on the help file in windows and type IIS.

If you are running NT 4, 2000, or XP you can download hfnetchk.exe from MS and it will tell you which version of Windows, IIS, and IE are installed on the machine plus whether or not all security patches and hotfixes have been correctly applied.
