IHS keychains

I recently came across two Opteron 144s, and figured I'd make some keychains out of them. I delidded them like any nerd would, but don't know where to start in terms of drilling holes in the IHSs. I assume I can just use an ordinary drill bit, nothing special like a diamond-tipped one, but just wanted to check and see if anyone's done this before.

Just go nice and slow and keep the hole cool. Slow speed with a cobalt bit should have it drilled out in no time but yeah, keep it lubricated.

Man, I remember those selling in the FS/FT forums for around $150+. I just would cringe seeing a drill bit going through a working opty 144. Those CPUs were awesome. 😛

Well, normally I would have cringed also (I have good memories of the 939 days), but these are actually s940. They're also on a ceramic package, so I would need to break every bit I have in order to make a dent in it.

Also, I'm only drilling through the IHS... I do plan on drilling through an entire Barcelona Opteron I got with the 144s.
