Ignoring jury duty in California, is it dangerous?

I got jury duty notice yesterday. My employer do not pay for jury duty notice and i just came back from vacation. So no vacation days to take. What is danger if any in ignoring jury duty notice? I am from California btw.

Yep. iirc,I think they can hold up State related paper work aka DMV, Biz License, etc for a failure to present for jury duty.

Please explain to me, what evidence court will have that i received the jury duty notice. Last time i checked, our legal system is still innocent till proven guilty. If that is still the case, the court will need to have some type of evidence beyond of no evidence at all. Notice did not come certified, which would provide court with record that someone received the notice and signed for it.

If you ignore the summons expect a sheriff at your doorstep the first day you meet. It is also illegal for your employer to fire you because you have to take off time for jury duty.
I actually had jury duty this week. I had to go in Mon. and Tue. from 8am-4pm but was never put on a case. A waste of time I know but it is our Civil Duty as citizens to participate in the Jury... At least that's what they kept telling me.

Thank you for that offer Seriously, if my work paid for jury duty or i had vacation days left i would have no problem of going to jury duty service.

Doesn't have to be certified and you got it since you're posting about it.

I'm in the same boat as you. I have no paid time off at the moment nor does my company pay for jury duty, but I've got duty for the entire month of July. However, in my case I'm going to suck it up and do my civic duty.

Please explain to me why you're so braindead as to believe that excuse is going to work. Are you really living in a fantasy world where your mighty brain outsmarted the system because nobody ever though of such a brilliant plan?

Wise up zippy, the laws cover exactly this situation. You have to prove that you DIDN'T get the notice, for things like this it's presumed that you did. Unless you can prove they have the wrong address on file and hence misaddressed the letter you're on the hook.
