Ignoring bad sectors?

Which program can i use to defragment my laptop so that it'll ignore the bad sectors and pretend like they are not there and not use them. Only thing i have found so far is Diskeeper that comes anything close. I dropped my laptop once and i think i scratched my disk. When i reformatted, it gets stuck at certain sectors for LONG periods of time. Took about 12 hours to reformat a 4 gig drive.

OS is XP and when i run an application or something. Most of the times, i'll hear my hard disk go crazy like it's having a hard time accessing something and then the prog will run.

Once the prog is running, seems like no further delays.

Any ideas?

Thanks
