IGN gives Uncharted 3 a perfect score

One of the few games to ever get a 10 from IGN. Read the review here.

I'm tempted to buy a PS3 now for this game (and Demon's Souls)...

Anyone looking forward to this game?

I found the first one incredibly dull. Once I had played an hour of it, I had seen everything the game had to offer.

pretty sure a ton of people are looking forward to this game 🙂

ps3 is primarily my single player gaming machine. they have much better single player exclusives than 360. im not sure if i will buy uncharted 3 or not though, i may just red box it. i usually blow through the games, and i really don't care about multiplayer much.

Absolutely. My birthday is in a couple of weeks and I asked my wife for it. She enjoys watching me play it too.

The negative? She may make we wait until my actual birthday (November 16) to play it. 🙁

I enjoyed 1 and 2, but I'll admit, 1 seemed to drag in places. I took breaks from the game and it took me a couple of months to finish.

UC2, on the other hand, was one I could not put down and finished it in a week.

I forgot this was so close.

Oh my lawd, this looks beautiful...I want to buy a new TV just to play this.

Eh, I got 75% the way through Uncharted 2 and lost interest. I honestly had more fun playing Tomb Raider: Anniversary, even if it lacks UC's super slick graphics.

The whole UC series screams rental to me. It's gorgeous, shallow, and linear. I'm not saying I want it to be like Fallout or Oblivion, but I miss games like the original PSOne Tomb Raider, where the environments were open and encouraged exploration and the puzzles weren't retardedly obvious. Everything in action games is spoon fed to you now.

But that's just my grumpy ass opinion. :-D

Non-gamers love to watch other people play the Uncharted series. The characters and dialogue are just really well done and the gameplay looks cinematic to the observers. It's also easy enough that most people can play through it without constantly dying or having to repeat sections, with the exception of a couple of difficult sections which just give the whole thing a sense of accomplishment.

I brought Uncharted 2 to a family gathering over Christmas when it came out, and there were probably five or six people who had never touched a video game that were completely enthralled by the (middle) train sequence.

Did you show them the opening snow sequence? That was the most beautiful part of the game in my opinion, I almost thought it was the cut scene at first.

I'm right there with you. I know that it is a great game, but I also start to get bored after a while. Maybe if I sprinkle it in with my Batman, Gears, and Battlefield time, I won't get so bored of it.

Never played 1, loved 2, can't wait for 3. Uncharted 2 is one of the few games I ever beat. That says a lot about it's entertainment value and perhaps about how approachable (ahem, easy) it is. I like a challenge but I give up a lot too.

Could never motivate myself to finish the first. Too repetitive, too drawn out, and I hated how guys wearing t-shirts took a billion bullets to die (a slight exaggeration, I know). Therefore, I could never motivate myself to play the 2nd...I watched a friend play some of it, and we both agreed that it was just the same thing as the first.

2 just wasn't that much my kind of game. Great action cinematics that I just kind of yawned during. I played maybe up to an hour and haven't gone back to it.

Uncharted games are extremely story driven, if you are not interested in the story you probably won't like the game.

Fixed!

Sorry, had to. Uncharted 2's story was about as sophisticated and deep as a Michael Bay flick. Nothing wrong with either, but visuals are the pull with both.

I'm really excited about this game, but it's hitting at the wrong time. Right now I'm playing RDR which is a third person shooter/adventure type game and don't feel like doing something similar right away. Are the multiplayer changes/enhancements enough to make this a launch day buy?

Looking forward to this one, can't wait for it. Loved the first two.

Tristicus, your sig is broken and messing up the page widths.

It's a pretty game but still shows all the age of a typical jagged edged DX9 game

Agreed with jagged edged, but not DX9. Developers can still get amazing graphics with DX9 if they really put their mind into it (Witcher 2.) Most just don't bother.

They're both third-person adventure games, but that's where the similarities end. Uncharted is not a sandbox/free roaming game. It's very linear/storybased, and feels like you're playing a character in a movie.

Uncharted 2 was excellent. It's basically a playable action movie. It was quite short though, I think I finished it in around 10 hours. I will get Uncharted 3 but probably only when the price drops a bit.
