paulson, your forums in your sig seem to work now.. not sure why it wasnt working earlier... looks good..

time for me to install 3 forums.. lol. didnt know about yabbse til someone mentioned it over at dixiesys forums (n00b in training)..

phpbb, invision, or yabbse... decisions, decisions... from the looks of it, invision looks like a mod of yabbse..

any other free forums i missed (php/mysql based)?

phpBB2 is probably one of the most popular boards, it's free, and runs off of php+(my)sql. InvisionBoard is what Ikonboard should've been and I'm pretty sure that it's another php+mysql solution, I haven't tried it but it looks pretty good. vBulletin is my favorite for the $0-~$200 range (it costs, unlike phpBB2). It's feature rich, and just as tough if not more than phpBB2, with quite a few more admin options. I haven't tought of something that vB hasn't done for me.. It's harder to use themes with vB if you're a newbie but I prefer it overall. Don't use Ikonboard, it's a major security risk and from what I recall there isn't going to be any more updates to their forum package.

This is cheating because they aren't excatly *my* forums, but I am a moderator over there, and she doesn't seem to have posted them yet, so I'll do it:

GigglyGrinch (hzl_eyed_grl's) forums

They are great, and we have an Adult board for those that are old enough (you must register to get access).

:) Come on over, we'd love to have you :)

I just set up my own forum thanks to a little help from a few people, but I'm still working the bugs out. I'm trying to get my host to quit dicking around. The server that my site is hosted on is the troublesome one and sometimes the whole site just up and disappears. :| But oh well. When it stablizes on it's own (or I request to change servers), I'll finish customizing it and such.
