im more frightened when I go to church...it creeps me out.

Lol, the last time I went to Christmas mass, I got so uncomfortable and creeped out that I started tearing up uncontrollably and shaking a little. I seriously felt like I was in a cult-like environment and couldn't wait to get the hell out of there.

lol catholic church and cults will do that to you. Go to a brethren church, like a baptist church or something, usually more laid back.

<---------------Went to Baptist private school

It doesn't matter what sect/denomination it is, its all a brainwashed cult

I first started going to church because I was "scared" into it /shrug

Probally the idea that going to church you can put your faith into a entity and feel somewhat less stressed now that you believe whatever happens is pre-destined to some degree. (explaining the phrase and the song lyric of it)

I've never heard that phrase.

I guess it plays off the idea of a church as a stronghold of god?

I assume that the point is that Church will teach you that God is control and that you really have nothing to fear on this Earth as long as you accept blah, blah, blah...

Scariness is like a 360 degree potentiometer. So if you're scared just go into P&N! It will be twisted past the zero mark but don't stay too long or you will be right back where you started! 😉

Unless God's plan is for you to die tomorrow after crashing your car into a nitric acid factory.

Oh well, at least you're helping God with his perfect plan. Just hope the terrible burning doesn't last for too awfully long.
😉

If it was God's plan, then why is he being punished for it?

I am scared about going to Church because my legs always start itching from standing up too much.

No no no---the burning is a reward. Y'know, like the Job thing.

Edit: ...which means that one should hope that the burning lasts as long as possible! It means that God loves you!

I was told by someone that God does that because suffering and pain are supposed to teach something.
So according to this person, yeah, if you suffer for years because of cancer before finally dying, it was God's will. This was just one of many many MANY people who seem to know why God does things. The fun part is that none of them ever seem to agree.
