So you are part of the problem and not part of the solution.

And you are a senior member? Maybe in message numbers only.

My wireless strategey....

1. wireless segment is on DMZ only with no access to Green network
2. WPA with Radius authentication using freeradius
3. mac address filtering
4. no DHCP in DMZ
5. no SSID broadcast
5. PPTP VPN if access to green zone is required or if any secure info is passed from the wireless segment....

Just stumbled upon this thread seaching for something else so I'm bumping it back up. I'm running a wireless router I've had for a long time (netgear) that's just secured with WEP and mac address filtering. I've been avoiding buying a new router because I can't afford it right now. I was also convinced I didn't need it yet because WEP was enough to slow people down enough they wouldn't bother. This now concinves me I need a new one.

So, suggestions? I don't want anything that breaks the bank, but it has to have WPA of course.

MAC filtering, disabling SSID broadcast and disabling DHCP are all completely worthless in securing a wireless network.

Wow, that kind of confirms it -- 3 minutes to break through a 128 bit random character WEP key. Glad I'm using WPA.... unfortunately my Ipaq 5555 doesn't want to 'play ball' with the wireless router with WPA enabled :(
