I'm looking left & right before the light turns green to see if there are any of the aforementioned asstyrants trying to blaze through.

Then I launch off the line like Oprah chasing a glazed ham. :D

in LA you have to stop - there aren't a lot of protected left turns and there will always be a few people that still need to turn left since they're halfway out into the intersection and all.

in LA, you have to wait after the light turns green because of the 2 car rule. 2 more cars pass by after the red light.

in any other city, i take off soon as the light turns green. whats fun is when i'm in the left-turn lane and i need to make a U turn. i see cars on my left going to make a right turn onto the street that i want to make the U-turn on, so when my light turns green, i make a very quick U-turn to try to hit the cars clearly not stopping on their red. if they hit me, i have the right of way because my light was green and they had red and they should have stopped.

we have rights, and i choose not to waive my right of way.

when i know i'm about to get cut off, i accelerate so that the car can't cut me off. it's called defensive driving. i'm defending myself from getting cut off. and when the time comes, i can be an offensive driver too. the key to having a good defense is to have a good offense.

:D

If you think the people in LA drive bad, you never have driven in Atlanta. I-285 isn't called Atlanta Motor Speedway (which is actually located 30 minutes from downtown) for nothing. People down here have no idea what a red light is for. I have seen people speeding down I-75 talking on the cell phone in one hand and the other hand out the sun roof at 80MPH+. Stupid I D ten Ts.

uh huh... and then when you get out too fast or they run the red a little late, YOU get side swiped.... or maybe he hits your tail, you lose control and flip... but if that's your attitude, maybe you deserve it... to me, you're almost as bad as the other drivers... you're supposed to try and avoid accidents at all costs, not go out and try to get someone who's running a red light just cuz you're driving a 2.5 ton SUV... what if they're driving say an H2? an H1? a big rig?

how does he deserve it? people shouldn't be speeding through red lights to begin with

I just saw two a$$holes blow right through a red light at a high rate of speed.

Rate of speed = acceleration :D

And yes, drivers are the worst people in the world :)

NO, rate of speed is NOT acceleration. Rate of change of speed is acceleration.

I'm not high on drivers, personally. I feel I can read a person's personality from the way they drive, but that may be just me. HAHA! It amazes me how pedestrians just step off the sidewalk without looking anywhere but straight ahead. Is their hearing THAT good? I don't think so.

I completely agree with you. Driving is a privilege not a right. People who have demonstrated a lack of willingness to drive responsibly should not be allowed to drive.

they shouldn't be speeding, but he shouldn't be trying to be an ass and trying to get people... driving is not a game, people's lives are at stake...what happens if you hit someone who ran a red light, and the car flips (i've seen it happen firsthand) and the car flips and hits a couple people on the sidewalk? i suppose it's the people on the sidewalk's fault for being there when the guy ran through the red light and you decided to go for him? you don't have to go for people, it's not that big of a deal to just be careful and avoid accidents... when you're gunning for the person it's no longer an accident... (i'm not saying YOU per se, i'm just making an example so it's easier to explain)

I take off right away and hit it hard...but the thing is while i'm waiting at the light I'm watching:

1. The side light to see when it will turn yellow

2. When it turns yellow I look both ways to see if everyones going to be stopped and if someone is going so fast that they won't be able to stop....

I may drive a truck (F150 x-cab 4x4).I don't think I should have to wait at a GREENlight for whatever amount of time, just because some a$$hole figures he's above the law.
Bring it on ,time for the AUTO-LOTTO.

i dont usually wait, buy i also pay attention and am looking both ways before it turns green. Then again, drivers in ky arent that bad, havent seen a red light run in at least two years, now ohio drivers, dont even get me started there.

And yes its nice to be a big macho driver, and its easy to get pissed off when some a-hole cuts you off, runs a light, tailgates etc. But I know a nice man, does a lot for our community and he is a good friend. He is in his late 40's and is still haunted at times about the child he killed when he was in an accident some twenty odd years ago. It;s not funny. Cuss up a storm, flick em off, but goddamnit dont make light of car accidents.

In New Orleans, you WILL get hit eventually if you pull off as soon as the light turns green. I've seen people running redlights 3-7 seconds after the light had changed. It's pretty much the status quo around here.

To the previous question, i have en Expedition.
To the H2, dont believe the advertising. I've heard its pretty well just another SUV with a different skin. Dunno if theres any truth to that.

As for why i do it, simple. *I* am obeying the law. I dont run reds. (EVA! On eof my friends was T-boned by someone else and nearly died. Sh1t like that is NOT funny to me) So, if your gonna be dumb enough to run a red, you may find an Expo in your way to teach you a lesson. I feel safe in it, barring some gigantic jacked up rig, which normally are not your typical red light runners.
Lets just say I'm trying to keep people law abiding shall we? :)
