Why would anyone pay big bucks for a rubber watch?

*EDIT* Sorry.. I didn't realize that I was thread capping... just thought it was weird is all.

I think this is a Diving Watch, but for some reason they're marketing it to the Marvel Comics set.

Odd?

Why rubber instead of metal? Is there some reason rubber is better? Or is it just cheaper?

A friend of mine has this watch (in another color) and there is nothing cheap about it. A lot of invicta watches have polyurethane straps. I have a subaqua noma iii sport that I paid a pretty penny for that has a polyurethane strap with embedded metal links.

The watch is made using thermopolymer not rubber. It has some of the stretchy qualities of rubber but is actually a form of plastic. I've seen videos of the band being stretched and twisted around, so it should be fairly durable. I would point out that at 52mm it's very big, and it will look comically large on smaller wrists. I don't wear anything larger than 46mm and I have 6.5in. wrists.

the comments are interesting but don't really answer my question 🙂 Why is the rubber/plasic/thermopolyme type band better or worse than a normal one? Is it more/less durable? costs more/less? Withstands sharkbites? Basically what are the good things and bad things about the band? I could use a good durable watch.

Not sure if there are any real advantages. I prefer the poly when I'm doing out doorsy stuff like hiking or at the beach. I wear metal bands to work.
