If you're bored...

...help me put together a new comp for me. I need a socket-a on-board sound and video, a mATX case, cpu, hard drive, ram and everything else for a little computer.

It's for my little brother and he want's to keep it as cheap as possible. So help me out, give me links and remember, I live in Hawaii, so shipping WILL kill me. 🙂

Thanks!

d*mn diamond member....anywayz, go to pricewatch.com and throw together a little duron system for him.

Shipping would kill me. Plus I can get a nice case locally for $60.00, and a floppy for like $20.00. 🙂

I know it costs more here, but when you figure in shipping and such, and if it's broken, I'm screwed. But if I buy the heavy stuff locally, and it breaks I can just take it back. 🙂

Shipping is a B*TCH if I use PriceWatch. See my initial post "I live in Hawaii". Ain't no UPS Ground going out to here. LOL! Thanks for the useless "bump", well anyways, I have a idea of what to use, but I'm not totally sure. Plus I'm bored and I haven't posted a topic in a long time and I figured now would be the best time. But yah, thanks for the useless post, I appreciate it "Member". 😀

Okay since I'm bored here you go:

AMD Duron 750MHz
Asus A7VI-VM (microATX, KM133 chipset) w/ integrated video and optional integrated sound and LAN (3 PCI & 1 AGP for expandability)
256MB Crucial PC133 CAS2
20GB IBM 60GXP
Pioneer DVD-116
cheapo keyboard, mouse, and speakers
Samsung 753DF 17" monitor

You got everything else.

Duron 750MHz ~$30
Asus A7VI-VM w/ onboard video and audio ~$100 (I couldn't seem to find one with the optional LAN)
256MB Crucial PC133 CAS2 ~$40
20GB IBM 60GXP ~$85
Pioneer DVD-116 ~$60
cheapo 56k modem or 10/100 NIC ~$20

Total: $335.....cheap enough? Damn my Geforce3 cost more than that! I should have built myself another system rather than gaining an additional 20fps in Quake3. Oh well.

Prices taken from Pricewatch and Newegg without shipping.....don't know how much that stuff will cost you in Hawaii since everything seems to be more expensive there. I remember going there a few summers ago and a burger was like ten bucks.

Ten bucks for a burger? Where the hell did you go? Damn! LOL! Next time you come here I'll show you were they have the best burgers for UNDER ten bucks. 🙂

I don't remember the name of the place. It was some place in Honolulu along Waikiki beach. I just remember they gave us pineapple slices with the burgers. And I remember those damn ABC food marts like every twenty feet. What's up with that?

Tourist trap. You never buy anything in Waikiki, it's a tourist trap. Expensive as hell. There are way better places on the island though. 🙂
