If you're a Democrat and a registered voter in Michigan..

Get out and vote for Santorum tomorrow.

It has been confirmed that a robocall making the rounds in Michigan the day before the state’s GOP primary comes from the Rick Santorum campaign and urges Democrats to vote for Santorum and against Mitt Romney. TPM obtained audio of the call Monday afternoon.

Santorum spokesman Hogan Gidley confirmed to TPM that the camp was indeed footing the bill. “If we can get the Reagan Democrats in the primary, we can get them in the general,” he told TPM.

Democrats show they hate democracy by doing this. If you guys are so sure Obama will win against Romney, why are you trying to derail the system?

In case you don't notice, the request is made by a Republican candidate.. ^^ He's counting on "Reagan Democrats." (whatever that means)

It'd be nice if elections and primaries were conducted without shenanigans however...

Both sides have done this in different ways and calling out the other side without calling out yours is doesn't do much for the situation either. We should have above board elections in all cases. It would probably lessen to a minor extent all the acrimony...

However if you're going to have shenanigans then go the high tech route....

I never trusted the voting machines... if they are going to be used then the software used for them should be open sourced and available for scrutiny by security minded geeks.

Let me ask you this: if such voting is perfectly legal within the Michigan voting laws-which it is-of absolutely what business is it of yours to question why anyone votes for any particular candidate?

Did you get that upset way back in 2008 when Rush was directing his obedient dittoheads how to vote in Democratic primaries?

Personally I think Santorum is the perfect candidate for the present state of the Republican Party.

First of all I am not a Democrat so spare me on that. Second of all there is no derailment made by any side as I see it. If Santorum did this in secret, then yes that would be an issue. But he is not hiding or lying. His campaign clearly states its objective, which sounds laudable, despite my non-existing knowledge of this identity called "Reagan Democrat." And no one is breaking the laws here. According to the article I've learned that there is no party registration in Michigan, so I don't even see any morally objectionable, either. (Maybe I should change the thread title to simply "If you're a registered voter in Michigan")

As for the Obama v. Romney, I don't know who's going to win other than that Obama currently holds the lead. But a lot can happen between now and November. I don't think either of them will take any vote for granted.

We are sure he will win, but we do enjoy trolling you guys.

Besides, if any party wants a primary free of interference by independents or those of rival parties, then the party will pay for and run the primary themselves instead of relying of state government resources.

If there's one thing I've learned in 56 years a nice high colonic at night is a... wait, that's not it but rather you frig with the fates they'll frig with you back. Or be careful what you wish for...

You're probably right. And we'd all be better off if we act as we believe and follow the golden rule. But in this case I find the entertainment value provided by Santorum almost irresistible. I'm a human being, after all. ^^

Yes, it is an attempt to derail the system. Anyone with any care for having an uncorrupted democratic system would refuse to take part in such things.

Exactly. If it is fine for the dems to do this, it is fine for the reps to do it too. If it is not fine for the reps to do it, it is not fine for the dems to do it either.

I look at it like this. If Clinton says a bj is not sex, then it would not be a problem if he caught his wife giving them away, right?

As long as she wasn't lying to a federal grand jury then who cares? I somehow doubt she knows much about a BJ and that look she's rockin' now there's not much danger of her learning.

that's such a destructive attitude.

45% of the country is going to vote for their "team" no matter who it is... do you really want to put Santorum in a position where he's one badly-timed Biden gaff away from sitting in the White House?
