If your name is wrong on a citation do you still have to pay it?

Sorry, no.

The officer should have put Josh's driver's license number on the citation and had Josh sign the citation acknowledging receipt of it. No judge is going to throw it out based on a small typo.

from what i understand, if there is an error on the citation, you get off. check out ticketassassin.com, although it focuses on california and if i remember correctly, you don't live in CA.

If you're good you might be able to get off. It doesn't show a lot for an officer's competence when he can't copy a name directly from a license or computer screen that's sitting in front of him. What would lead you to believe that he could read the numbers on his radar gun any better? (assuming this was a speeding citation)
