If your current profession disappeared, what would you do?

At this exact moment I'm a Web marketer and SEO consultant - that business is changing really fast and is likely to disappear soon. When it does go away I'll write a non monetized blog about how to make money on the web. Then I'll write my memoirs. I worked on some interesting and very successful web companies.

I hope you do. I would like to read it.

Good question. I kind of wish my current profession WOULD disappear (Sharepoint dev), as it would light a fire under me to do something else.

Same here TBH. My current job is comfortable enough (and allows me to enjoy life otherwise) that I'm not really motivated to do a big change, but at the same time it's really unsatisfying.

Edit: As for what I'd do maybe I'd give law enforcement a try. Not something I'd want to do for the rest of my life, but chasing hoodlums for a few years sounds kind of fun.

No worries about myself, I'll "make do". 🙂

However those I work around and care about would be another story and that would bother me - a lot!

It did. Luckily I'd already worked at it 30 years and could retire. But then my wife became disabled and couldn't work. We make about 1/4 of what we used to and we're doing fine.

Admin assistant. Pay at a good company is in the $50k range, it's liveable. I've got beaucoup experience in it.

But... my profession won't go anywhere since people will still need drinking water and roads.
