The stupidity started in 2000:

Eddie Vedder - "I'm moving to a different country if little Damien II gets elected."

Alec Baldwin - was never quoted directly, but reportedly made a statement to his wife Kim Basinger, who was later quoted in Focus magazine saying that Alec "might leave the country if Bush is elected president ... and then I'd probably have to go too."

Barbara Streisand - "I don't think you'll see me around here for at least four years."

Robert Altman - "If George Bush is elected president, I'm leaving for France."

Pierre Salinger - "If Bush wins, I'm going to leave the country and spend the rest of my life in France."

Pierre Salinger was the only one who made good on his promise.

My hypothetical candidate would be principled, intelligent and innovative. He therefore cannot be heard effectively much less elected.

No, you don't. I know tons of Obama supporters, and I haven't heard one person say this yet. You're just a lazy little troll dragging up a tired old canard. Stop wasting the adults' time.

if your candidate doesnt win, will you legitimately pack up and leave?

No, but I'm sure hoping you will.

I am planning on moving, still within the USA, just lower my visibility to the Federal Government. At most I'll move to the Republic of Lakotah and help them fight for their sovereignty.

I'll fight to preserve the USA to the end of my life, but if Romeny wins quite frankly I think history will record the end of the Clinton term as the turning point when the USA began it's final decline in earnest. Obama did a pretty good job in slowing/stopping the slide but Romney following so close behind GWB will turn us into permanent plutocratic society with a rapidly diminishing middle class. The masses will bear the burden of US debt and the wealthy will internationalize their wealth and ultimately citizenship.

Two terms of Obama followed by a Hillary presidency could revitalize the USA but too many people are one issue voters and/or too easily swayed by charlatans' empty promises. In a very real sense we've become a MTV attention span country, demanding quick and painless fixes to every problem.

I keep hearing that Somalia is a libertarian paradise, so if Dr. Paul doesn't win as a write-in candidate then I'm packing my bags!

I'm heading either to the moon or Antarctica. I just have to figure out which one of these shills is my candidate first.
