If you were transported back 100,000 years into the past...

Make it with many many hot cavewomen and then you could all be my descendants!

the cavemen might have a thing or two to say about that 😛

You could invent steel and kick their ass.

You could invent all sorts of things: waterwheel+copper+iron=electricity.

You could have warmth depending on where you lived... plus you can build a fire (though it might take me awhile without a lighter).

It would suck without anyone else being transported back though. Do you get at least one friend?

sorry, no friends. :|
you are on your own. 😛

Rats.

Well I'd survive for awhile but I'd get pretty lonely with no one there to be a friend... probably make wine and drink myself into oblivion.

Not if you have your boomstick with you they won't.

Would you be able to take with you whatever you had on your person at the time? If so, I'd be all right. I *always* have a good knife (Benchmade Mini Griptilian) Surefire L1 with at least 2 extra batteries (wouldn't last very long, but long enough to get myself situated). And a leatherman Squirt P4. If I happen to have my EDC bag on me when I'm transported, I'll be in much better shape. I have 6 more batteries, a Gerber multi-tool that has a serrated blade in it, for cutting wood, fish, etc. A notebook, a couple of pens, bandaids, Advil, and some other stuff.

The best thing you could do is write yourself a note warning of what is coming, in which case, you probably wouldn't be transported in the future....

for all those who opted to court the nearest cavewoman, remember that female hygiene is nonexistant 😛

I am pretty sure It'd be easy to clean one up at the nearest water hole...

You keep refering to hairy brutal human-types. That may not be true. Cro-Mangnon may have lived during that time. Although thye looked modern, they were larger than us physically and had larger brains as well. They also had a rather highly developed culture.

OTOH, perhaps we would be in a place inhabited by Neanderthals. They were short, abit taller than 5', and bulky. Whether they were hairy or not is conjecture. Whether they were brutal or not seems a prejudice based upon their appearance. Perhaps an unfair one.

No matter, with a little luck I believe I could survive quite well. An abundance of fresh natural foods. I like wearing "animal pelts", around here we call it leather or fur. It's pretty expensive too. Imagine being the first guy in the neighborhood with a bow & arrow. You'd be a "cave-babe magnet".

Free beachfront real estate, abundant seafood etc. Oh, and short hairy women don't bother me - I married a Southern Italian girl 😉

You could prolly get rich by selling salt, makes grilled meat taste soo much better. Just imagine all posiible things you could show those people.

If diseases did not get me or a big hungry sabretooth, then I think survival would be possible. I could actually use soap (i would make some). A knife would be great to have with me at time of transport. I would look for eligible cavewomen and get a harem going.
I would teach them that bathing at least once a week would be great fun, but I would teach them who is in control (ha, ha). In some ways it would be fun. Bring it on.

Well, it is nice to know that 50% of ATOTers would make the trip simply for the chance to show off to some cavewoman and get her to touch their manstick

it's human nature to struggle to survive. i'm not just going to go tits up without a fight. gimme some of that meat on the fire, cook that up real nice and give me a chew.

sweet.

I'm with you on that one 🙂 I'd try to stay alive

Invent the wheel, paper, sailing, compass, farming, the plow, fire (rubbing sticks/flint), animal domestication, agriculture/irrigation/waterworks

Get my face on their $100 bill as the greatest caveman inventor

Those would all be extremely difficult things to just "invent" except for the plow. They probably already had fire at that point. A lot of you are probably overestimating your mechanical abilities. How would you go about building a wheel without modern tools?

I would hope that I have a weapon or some other very useful technology with me so that I could become a leader, and then use my power to try to create a more technologically advanced society. Then I'd rule with an iron fist!

I don't care about all that worldly stuff, I'd be happy to go.
It'd be cool. But as soon as I get there, I'm walking to Florida.

I remember being worried when I read "A Conneticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" by Mark Twain. I would have had no idea on how to start up various industries if I was sent back. Entirely too specialized.

I'd likely die from some disease... as would almost everyone here.

The correct answer

Not necessarily. Diseases weren't as prevalent before humans became agricultural-- not as easy to spread. IMO, there were probably few human diseases just like there are few for other animals-- they evolved and proliferated with humanity.
