If you were told your job was now located somewhere else, what would you do?

depends on where it was moved to. i wouldn't mind moving if they paid for expenses and it was a good place. otherwise i would quit and find another.

Agreed. As long as they provide aid in the moving and I am not going to some hellhole, I would go. Other than that I would tell them to shove it.

I wouldn't like that one bit. Technically I don't believe they can "assume" you resigned (otherwise you'd wouldn't qualify for unemployment) but maybe they phrase it that way to indicate you can't keep your job if you don't move.

Didn't you move not too long ago to where you are now for your job?

Maybe you can help the guy who tries to fix our 3090. He's clueless.

Depends on
1) if I like my current location
2) they paid for ALL expenses related to the move
3) if I thought they were just going to ask me to move again in another 12 months

Year and a half.

1090? One of the best machines we ever built. I love those things, they're built like a rock.

1) Not particularly
2) More than
3) Probably not

<< As a severence package they should help you get the mods to change your name from Xerox Man. >>

I asked about changing it to "X-Man" once, never got a reply. 😉

It's not really the end of the world in my mind. They've given us a couple weeks to volunteer to move. If they don't get enough volunteers to fill their positions, then they will ask people to move, and that's where the resignation part comes in.

I'm the only guy on my workgroup without a wife, kids, and a house, so I'm going to volunteer, I think. Phoenix doesn't sound too bad.

The 3090 is one of those huge engineering copiers. I wouldn't imagine there's a whole lot of them still around, actually.

And Phoenix sounds pretty good, go for it if they're paying the cost (including any penalties for terminating a lease early, if you are renting).

If I liked my job, was relatively unattached and/or had family support to move, I would be inclined to make the move. If they are paying to move you all the better.

Phoenix sounds better than Flint (I think you asked about Flint MI before?), to me anyway 🙂
