Flying is something I'd love to get into but don't think I'd want to do it for anything but pleasure.

I really enjoy IT and realistically I'm in it for life - getting kind of old for another career change. But I was a copywriter/layout guy before I got into this, and that was cool as well. So if I couldn't do IT I'd probably go back into advertising in some capacity.

What age is considered to be too old for a career change?

I'm currently a system administrator and I'm getting to the point where I'm at a standstill. Granted, I do not know everything, but it seems I never get the chance to prove that I am capable of doing stuff on the next level. The management on the contract I work seems to think if your title doesn't include the word 'Engineer" in it, then you don't know $hit.

I'm currently taking courses in web development, which will include Java, PHP, XML, CGI/Perl and Visual Basic.Net (at least this is what the degree course outline consists of right now)..
Hopefully this will somehow get me away from the system admin $hithole that I'm in now..

I really don't think I can stand to be in IT too much longer though. Its hard to get out though because the $$ is good.

Probably something in Finance, or business management. There are fewer dedicated technicians out there now as more and more folks are trying to combine what they know with other areas of business. There are a bunch of our engineers and network managers who are pusuing MBAs (mysielf included) for example.
