You all need to stop buying these crappy overpriced poorly built tv's. Every tv I've owned has lasted 10+ years problem free.

I have worked at best buy... so I know how thier PSP's and PRP's work. On a high end tv like that, I'd do it just for the bulb replacements. But heres the thing most people don't know about those psp's. If you have to bring in your tv, or have one of the techs come look at it in your house (cuz your not going to tote a 50" tv to BB) THREE times and it has to have parts ordered for it THREE times, then they on the 4th time of having to order parts, they just replace your item with something of the same value. IE... if your tv "broke" three times before the warranty was up, and they had to order parts three times, you call that 4th time, and they just give you a new tv... So paying the $200 roughly, to have a brand new tv in 3 years from now, yeah I'd say its worth it lol. The PSP for computers are way easier to sell than on tv's... imagine only paying 150-250 bucks to get a new comp every 3 years? =) I had people who worked with me at BB do this several times, the only kicker is that at the end of the 3 years when your item "breaks" that 4th time and they repalce it, if you want to cover it for another 3 years you have to re-buy another PSP. Hopefully you take something from this post... just thought I'd inform you.

Hell yes. Every single electronic device I buy, I get from Best Buy and also get the PSP on it.

Modern electronics break after a few years. Why not get a brand new device every few years?

No, but then again, I wouldn't be buying a TV from Best Buy in the first place. I think a good service plan is worth the money on a high end television, but that plan is worthless if you're buying from a company who will fight you tooth and nail when you need them to make good on it.

I've found Circuit City to be painless when it comes to cashing in on a service plan.

I PURCHASED THE plan just for that very reason...the bulb. Had one blow out and had a new one within 2 days. Then waited about 2 months and got a backup bulb also.

Nah. I have a DLP TV with a bulb, and the extended warranty doesn't cover the bulb - vastly diminishing the usefulness of the warranty. Used my credit card to double the manufacturer warranty instead.
R-E-A-D-I-N-G C-O-M-P-R-H-E-N-S-I-O-N. Heard of it? What do you need to get this through your thick skull, a three-act play with sock puppets?

LOL, I certainly comprend that you said it doesn't cover your bulb, but the problem which I guess you are attempting to ignore now, is your:

I can only hope that your "tard" ass has indeed bought a PSP thinking that it'll cover your bulb change. In any case, STFU.

You seem to be speaking about everyones bulb in this case, or in the very least Snakexor. Which you are wrong, I'm not argueing with you about whether it covers your bulb, or your statements conserning your bulb, but the fact that you make sweeping generalizations that are wrong, and do it while being an @sshat.

From many of the horror stories at AVSforums with people having problems with their TVs, I think an extended service plan isn't a bad idea. I bought a 2 year plan for mine to cover for bulb replacement and piece of mind.

I would, I got my TV at CC, got the two year plan, the guy told me to call right before my warranty expired to get a bulb, I did and have yet to use it.

$800-$1000 is a drop in the bucket when considering an "expensive" big screen. But I guess that's different for everyone. I would only buy an extended warranty if all or part of it is refunded after 3-4 years if you don't use it. RC Willey where I bought one of my big screens does this. Not sure if BB does.
