If you were to buy a couch....

what kind of material would you buy it of?

I currently have a black leather couch, but wondering if it's really good for long term or not....

I dont like leather, its too damn cold when u first sit on it, u have to wait for your ass to warm it up.

I like plain cloth better. with leather, it doesn't feel really comfortable to just lay down and veg.

Not comfortable enough?

I do not agree...I've falling asleep twice on it so far watching movies....

My last two couches have been leather.

Some great points about real leather:

*Real leather does not stick on hot days. Not like vinyl.
*Yes, leather is cold at first, but it warms up fast.
*Leather really helps reduce dust in your house. Fabric holds dust like crazy. Leather does not and you simply wipe it down to clean it.
*Same for pet hair. If you have pets, leather is nice because the pet hair does not stick to it. It simply wipes off.
*Leather is easier to keep clean. Most spills will not stain and simply wipe right off.
*Sliding around during sex is not always a bad thing.

denim like is good. But when you buy it, jsut order a couch with fabric that is rated to last a while.

Yeah but if treated properly it will repel the "wet spot"

Funny you should ask this. We just bought a new (fabric) couch and recliner for the living room. I'd rather have that, despite the drawbacks. Leather's too cold not to mention you already pay out the ass for a good couch as it is. The leather couches they had at the furniture place were $100s more than the fabric couches. To say nothing of the fact that one of my cats has a leather fetish (he LOVES laying on or around my Docs or anything else made of leather) and it would probably be impossible to get him to stay off the couch.

Just bought a couch and we get fabric. Much more comfortable and don't have to worry about it getting cut or scratched or anything.

I am affraid my dog's claws would destroy a leather couch in no time. Atleast with the cheap usually used fabric couches they last a couple years.

*note to self: don't sit on the couches at Amused's house*

There is a new fabric for furniture called microfiber. It is VERY durable and comfortable, it almost feels like suede. The wife and I just bought $4000 worth of living room furniture, the couch and loveseat are covered with microfiber and we love it. It is kid/dog/cat proof. 😀
