damn guys...thanks so much for the great responses.

i was leaning toward the xbox, then the gamecube, then the ps2.

thing with the gamecube is, i'm a lowly college student and it doesn't play the dvd's. i think i should really take a look at the titles like he said above. but like i said, i appreciate the responses!

You're in college? Get an xbox. Seems gamecube's target audience is really young, my cousin has a gamecube, the graphics are good but there arent a lot of good games unless you are into mario-type stuff. Most of Xbox's games are geared towards older folks, what with the halo, splinter cell, pgr, shenmue, mafia, doa's, morrowinds etc etc with AWESOME games soon to come (I'll just mention Fable, Halo 2, Brute Force and Ninja Gaiden. Plus since you are in college you probably have a high bandwith internet connection, so you can go live... xbox live rox, gamecube's live play isnt looking promising. But that is, of course, just my 2 cents.

It depends on if you usually play it with your friends or if you play single player more. I have an Xbox and a PS2 in my dorm, and the only thing the PS2 is good for is GTA 3/Vice City which we have beat, and a DVD player. If the Xbox had a built in DVD function I would have no need for the PS2, i just don't feel like spending $30 to play movies. Halo with 4 people killed my grades last quarter, and NCAA 2K3 wasn't much better. I almost never play single player games on my consoles though. If you are a student or have people over all of the time I think there is really no competition with the Xbox. that's just my opinion.
