RC,

Digital KVM switches ain't cheap. The 4 port analogs that I'm using on the first rack were about $20 each. I have 5 of them daisy chained, but the signal degradation is so bad on node 12 and 13 that I had to plug a keyboard directly in to the nodes. This is why I'll be going digital on rack #2.

The cheapest 6 port digital switches I've found so far are $130 each. I'll use two of these. They make 12 and 16 port units but, beyond the (high) cost of the switch itself, they use special conversion cables that are about $25 a crack (per node). The 6 porters use the standard (and cheap) mini din's and hd 25's.

Thanks Russ. Seems the best solution is the 6 port digital solution. Do you have any links?

P.S. I have no idea where DanC got the idea that you were an "old geezer"; I think it was just Dan being Dan. :)

RC,

Buy.com carries a billion varieties, although that's probably not where I'll be getting mine. One of my distributors carries the 6 port units I'm thinking about.

Hey Russ

Those $25 LX's would that be the P6L40-A4E? If so have you tried a Celeron-2 in those? Tech support at TekRam says Cel-A only. How did you get them to 706?

Kwatt,

Yes, that's the board. Yes, they work with the C2. Tech support at Tekram is full of crap; they're playing CYA. Set the FSB at 83Mhz for 706Mhz. The CPU is locked at 8.5, so it doesn't matter what you set the board multiplier at.

I have six of those boards; they work perfectly with the Coppermine Celerons.
