HOWEVER, I'm now living on the Olympic Peninsula in WA. Awfully pretty place...close enough to Seattle to visit when I want...far enough to avoid SOME of the craziness that pervades that fucking place. If you folks think SF and CA are too librul...you'll HATE Seattle. Seattlites make San Franciscans seem positively conservative by comparison... (but it's gawd-damned pretty up here.

No! Shut up! It isn't pretty. It sucks here, there's too many liberals in the city and too many rednecks in the country and everyone should just stay far, far away from Washington altogether.

Don't worry about me, though. I'll be fine. All you other guys just stay out.

I lived in CA for 25 years. I liked it there...just too expensive for me to stay there once I retired. (I still go back at least once per year to visit my grandkids though...my wife INSISTS on it)

If I had to choose one state forever...fuck you...I don't think I can. Too many VERY NICE places to visit.

You old D:

Tough for me though to say seeing as I've only ever spent considerable amount of time in 3 or 4 states, all in the north east.

With that said though I'd probably pick CA or Texas. Kind of odd choices seeing as they are exact opposites but I think the main things are living in a physically large state with many different places to go and things to do. Living in DE or RI you'd probably go insane, even if you really liked it there. I'm not a skier so not having snow isn't a big deal for me, so TX would probably still be a fun place to be, even if a ton of idiot hicks live there (sorry TX people).

Most people ARE stuck in the same State. Aside from those micro States on the east coast, 90 percent of people never move more than 150 miles from where they were born.

I think that statistic is changing. Lack of jobs, increased technology(facetime, skype, ect), and lopsided costs of living have encouraged more mobility in younger generations.

As to the question...California without question. If I'm stuck in a state I'm going to the one that pretty much has any environment I'd want within it's borders...and the space to actually spread out a bit once all you fuckers move there too. :p

Hawaii!

NY and its occasional -35 winter temps can go fuck itself. 7 month winters can go fuck itself.

Might as well be Michigan. I've lived here my entire life so far, 33 years. I like it, except as I get older I find I can deal with the cold less and less easily.

i think as i've gotten older, i'd just rather not have to even worry about the weather in general which is why i don't like the cold because then i can't do a lot of stuff i want to do that is outside. it's uncomfortable and it just stops you from being able to do things you want to do. and i hate snow now that i don't get out of school for it, and the panic it causes with all the idiots around here.

one day i will be in san diego. weather there is never a factor to hold you back from doing anything because it's good year round.

If prison is anything like Maui I need to start living a life of crime.

I loved Maui when I visited. But visiting and living are two different things. I don't want to be stuck on 48 miles long island forever.

if we were picking any country in the world to live on, i'd pick countries smaller than maui (aruba or turks and caicos).
