If you were stuck within the physical boundaries of one state for the rest of your life, which state would it be?

It's hard for me because my family is so spread out. It'd be a toss-up between WI and IL, but I think I'd settle with IL because I have a lot more here except for my parents. And I hope they come visit me once in a while lol.

Can family visit me? If so, California. You've got desert in the south, san francisco is it's own climate, and the northern area can be cool. Huge variation in geography, lakes, mountains, and the ocean. It's not my favorite state, but if I can't travel to see the world, I choose CA.

Yeah, CA would have been my 3rd choice. I <3 the Monterey/Big Sur area.

For absolute non-boredomness, it'd be California.

Great weather, great cities, great skiing, great beaches, great deserts. It has it all.

.....Hawaii may be more heavenly for me but it's certainly not as diverse as Cali if you couldn't go anywhere else.

Yeah, California, absolutely. People also don't realize how remote some parts can get.

California is large and diverse, have lived there and done that in the past.

I'd still pick Hawaii.

Hmmm hard to decide. in Canada: The maritimes sound like they could be nice. A lot of great areas there. BC is too expensive and hustle and bustle, even though it's nice, the prairies are kinda meh.

If in US, maybe Alaska. Not a fan of the big city hustle and bustle life, so Alaska is probably rather close to being like where I live now, but probably more freedom. Buy a nice big offgrid parcel of land and live like a king. The 100% offgrid like on the TV shows would be a bit much for me so I'd probably still want to be close enough to a city and still rely on it for supplies and stuff, just not right in the middle of one.

But in all reality, I'd want to stick to Canada. Nobody is taking away my free health care. :p

Hawaii is nice was there for 3 years before it went too crazy. Downers are the cost of living and everything has to be shipped in....

California is nice around the bay area. As stated above too many liberals and SJWs for my taste. I did live in Vallejo for 4 years, but that was also years ago.

I would have to pick South Carolina Charleston Area. Low cost of living, the people are friendly and nice. Plenty to do.

Does South Carolina have good skiing?

The Appalachians have decent ski slopes. But most people prefer the Rockies.

Actually, I think Alaska has awesome mountains but I dont know if you'd ever get home alive. Definitely the skiing of your life.

:awe:

I lived in CA for 25 years. I liked it there...just too expensive for me to stay there once I retired. (I still go back at least once per year to visit my grandkids though...my wife INSISTS on it)

HOWEVER, I'm now living on the Olympic Peninsula in WA. Awfully pretty place...close enough to Seattle to visit when I want...far enough to avoid SOME of the craziness that pervades that fucking place. If you folks think SF and CA are too librul...you'll HATE Seattle. Seattlites make San Franciscans seem positively conservative by comparison... (but it's gawd-damned pretty up here)

If I had to choose one state forever...fuck you...I don't think I can. Too many VERY NICE places to visit.
