I never felt that age was the main factor in compatibility.
When I was 18 I tended to go for women much older cuz they offered me things I wanted, and by that I mean intellectual things. In tangibles.
Now that I'm 40 I find I'm not really too compatible with the average American middle aged woman. So again I will probably seek out women in a different age group.

If you quickly glanced at the photo, you'd think Reeves is 46 and his lady friend is 50-something.

Just hope Reeves gets a fulfilling relationship. That dude has had some really unfortunate dark days and generally seems like a good guy despite it.

Probably wouldn't care as long as I would know that I could love that person. Connection is the factor for me. Of course I am not rich and famous but I don't think that it would change me much.

I go by the total added years above my age of ladies I have dated before, then use that as a measure of how young I can date. So far, I'm aiming for about 20-25 years younger than me.

I'm trying to apply your formula but keeping ending up in a place that would make Uhohs blush. An example would be helpful.

For me it's pretty easy, because it's really just 2 ladies older than me, long term, @ 9-10 years each. ...I ignore those that were younger than me as some sort of "correction." They don't factor into the math.

This allows me to pursue ladies ~22 and older.

I've talked about this over drinks with the wife/friends. The problem with dating someone WAY younger is they don't relate with your experiences- they grew up in a completely different time period. Successful relationships are based on commonality- hence the name "RELATION-ship". Men are wired to visual attraction, so young healthy bodies are a big draw for us...but that's just physical attraction. If two people don't have anything more than that, it will never work.

I'm 49 now, and when I look at women in their 20's, I see my daughter's friends--and when I hear them speak my brain immediately goes into "dad mode." I don't think I could date anyone more than 10 years younger than me (not that I would ever do that...my wife is hot :D)

A lot of my interests didn't become 'socially acceptable' until I was well into adulthood. Its much more common to find women into geekdom type of stuff in a younger age bracket. It probably matters less as you age though. Experiences you had as a child are different than those experienced as an adult. I'd think dating someone in their late 20's/early 30's would be entirely different than someone just out of school even with bigger age gap for the older women.
