I've read that inmates in the prison camps in WWII had to resort to this to stay alive! I guess when you are
at that point of desperation, you'll do anything to stay alive...

Deserted island or desert island? Also, is there no plant life whatsoever?

There was a Stephen King short story about a physician who washed up on a desert island. I can't remember what happened, but I think he started to cannabilize himself.

I wouldn''t eat my crap because there is no benifit from it. Now, drinking pee, on the other hand, I would do. Being hydrated is the key, even if you are drinking your own toxins 😉

istallion, I thing dehydration is the more important problem. Urine might not have any nutrients, but drinking
salt water will lead to a quick death. Can't a human survive a couple weeks without food, but only a couple days without
water?

But urine has about the same salinity of salt water, if not more (in some cases).
 
I would try to rig up a distiller for my urine if i had to but I would not eat my own feeces as there is probably very little benefit

Yes, but you aren't increasing your saline levels... your body is just going to keep excreting the same amount. Drink
salt water gradually increases your blood salinity level, drink urine keeps it at the same level.

Urine = poison. You'll die from it, although not as quickly as if you take nothing or salt water.
Thus, I would rig up a distiller. Should be fairly easy seeing as how tropical islands have tropical sun. Also, make a water trap, it'll rain every day on your little bit o paradise.
Food? You'd be suprised what you can find in the ocean, even close to shore.

you can drink you own urine for a maximum of, from what i remember from ocean survival, 3 days in a row... or if your urine turns blue/purple, thats it, your kidneys are going. You cant drink it anymore.

oh... and i vote that mucman try it... drink you urine for 3 days, recycling it.

Of course drinking water wouldn't be as good as drinking clean water. I wonder if there are any cultures that
drink animal urine as a delicacy...
