If you were looking to buy a Dell inspiron laptop

Dell has just issued a $500 coupon off a $1499 or more inspiron systems, that's up to 33.3% off. I've been tracking dell coupons for some time now, and that's the hottest I've seen. My guess is that since Santa Rosa is coming out sometime next month, now its the time to get rid of the "old" stuff. Anyway, I'm not sure if I can post the coupon code here or the link to the page where I've got it (unless a mod allows me to), but you can google it VERY easily. In my opinion this is hot, if you know of anything better I'd be happy to hear.
FYI the coupon I know of expires 04/26/07. If you can't find the code, search the usual places.

Of course that $1,500 laptop was a Pentium M 1.3 GHz with 512MB, 20 GB hard drive and a blazing Radeon 9600 :)

My Dell Inspiron 700m is almost two years old and it's still going strong. As a matter of fact it's been my main and only rig for the past year. I got it relatively loaded (Pentium M 1.6GHz/256/40/DVD-RW/8 cell) for $750 + $119 for 1GB SODIMM from NewEgg.com

Looking back, I definitely got my money's worth and I love the 12.1" WXGA form factor.

We have some older Dell Latitude D600 Pentium M's at work that are nice, if I had any real use for a laptop I'd have given in to one of those old half-off GottaDeals.

It's amazing to see current deals though, like the recent loaded E1505 core 2 for $699. Except for the graphics, it's twice as fast as the $1,800 gaming desktop I built in 2003 and portable as well. Time flies :)

Add HP/Compaq and Acer to that list. IMHO the best bang for your buck laptop is the HP DV6000T for around $700-ish.

I do miss the screen real estate that my Dell 2005FPW LCD offers but the portability + WiFi sitting on a Laz-Y-Boy recliner makes up for that.

$500 off $1500 is HOT, as dell laptops are already probably the best value anyway...It's not the best ever, $750 off $1500 was the best...deal...ever.

Well, RossMAN suggested HP and acer as well, but I think that though they also deliver nice hardware for $$$ ratio, still dell blows them all out. I've been in the market for a new laptop for a while now, and that's my own conclusion.

Loaded for ~$900 with not too sucky of graphics, a perfect mobile CS:S machine :)

Aye! I travel a lot with my 700m. Makes me smile when the girls say "That's the smallest one I've seen!"

Now if only HP would start offering Win XP again on their consumer PCs like Dell.

I think that I jumped on the same $750 off $1500 as Rossman did a couple years ago. Picked up a 700m for my wife. It was loaded at the time.. 1.6 gHz processor, 512 meg RAM, DVD-RW drive. We upgraded it to 1.25 gig of RAM a few months ago. Great little machine.

I recommend checking out the Dell SB site. They are running the same laptops at about $50 off the Home side's prices.

I'm going to be picking up an Inspiron 1501 probably shortly for my wife. They are priced at $499 for the base model and $549 for Dual Core.

Another satisfied 700M customer. Dropped in 2 Gigs of Memory and loaded Vista, no Aero due to video limitation, but runs just fine otherwise.
