If you were going to sell this Dell Dimension 8100 on EBay...

What would you do? Anyone have experience selling computers on EBay? I just stripped some of the stuff out to build a new system and I'm trying to figure out what I'll do with this system, and Ebay'ing it is one option. Here what is it it...

- Motherboard
- P4 1.4 ghz
- 128 megs RDRam
- Old crappy video card that came with it
- Floppy drive
- Power Supply
- Original fans
- I guess I could put in an old 8gb HD lying around

And I think that it it. So if you had this system, how would you sell it on Ebay? Would you sell it as a barebones PC and sell it as it? Or put optical drives it it, a bigger HD, and a newer video card and sell it as a complete system without a monitor? Any suggestions on cheap hardware to put in there if that's the best route?

I might just make an HTPC with it though too. I dunno though, just exploring options.

Hah, that just gave me a pretty good idea.... I work at Kansas Univ. (where I'm a student) at the networking dept. The first month or two of school I'll be spending most of my time working in the dorms getting people on the internet, answering questions, etc... Could be a great opportunity to sell it when someone asks "So what kind of computer do you think my son/daughter will need?" "Well 'mam, I have a great deal for you!" 😛

So then if I was going to do that, I'd need to buy a CD-RW and at least another CD-rom, probably a DVD-rom, put a HDD in there, video card, keyboard, mouse, network card, and... that should be it. Looking at another.... $200 I guess? Problem is minimum that I'd want to sell it for then would be $250, but you can get a 2.2 ghz with monitor from Dell for $500, and since they'd have to buy a monitor with mine, they might as well just buy from Dell. Hrmm....

Might just make an HTPC.
