Air Force, then Navy. Screw the army. I'd rather work in a cramped sub then be shot at or blown up.

Most likely the air force, though I could probably find a cushy job in any of them. My background is in turbine engine design for aircraft.

I served in the royal danish army and did a tour of duty in Afghanistan, so I'd go army again, screw the skypussies and water-taxies.

USMC, but I am biased as I am already a Marine.

If you're going to be forced to do something, might as well go all in.

101 airborne? o_O

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/101st_Airborne_Division

The 101st Airborne Division—the "Screaming Eagles"[1]—is a U.S. Army modular light infantry division trained for air assault operations. During World War II, it was renowned for its role in Operation Overlord, the D-Day landings on 6 June 1944, in Normandy, France, Operation Market Garden, the liberation of Holland and action during the Battle of the Bulge around the city of Bastogne, Belgium. During the Vietnam War, the 101st Airborne Division fought in several major campaigns and battles including the fight for Hamburger Hill in May 1969.

Coast Guard. Sleep at home, troll the bay fishermen.

Remember, there job is to go out after the idiots in all types of weather. Nothing says they have to come back safely.

Some cutters are gone months at a time on deployment. Son used to come into port at Ft Lauderdalr with bodies of Hatians that were fished out of the ocean stacked on deck like logs.

Not a pleasant site.

Coast Guard. I kind of regret not trying to get in when I was young. I like being on the water. When I WAS young, I was talking to a recruiter about joining the Army. I wanted to get into Airborne, and try Ranger school. I lost interest by the time I was old enough to join. Good thing I think. I wouldn't have been a good fit.

According to a group that includes General Wesley Clark 75 percent of the nation's 17 to 24-yeat olds are ineligible for military service...

"According to the Pentagon, the ineligible population breaks down this way:
Medical/physical problems, 35 percent.
Illegal drug use, 18 percent.
Mental Category V (the lowest 10 percent of the population), 9 percent.
To many dependants under age 18, 6 percent.
Criminal Record, 5 percent."

With so many young people ineligible for military service, it isn't clear how relevant the results of a poll that assumes that everyone is eligible will be...

But, since I drew in the low 20s in the original draft lottery, I'll play.

I was drafted into the Army. Though the day I got sworn in, they did ask for Marine Corps volunteers ...

Anyway, the draft is finished for the US, unless you move to Korea, Israel, Iran, or similar country none of you are ever likely to get drafted.

Semper Fi!

I doubt they'd take me again at my age and in my condition...but there's no doubt, if I had to choose again, USMC.
