What is land? What value does it hold, especially THAT land?
I would GTFO. It is the only sensible thing to do.
However, if I was born and raised there it'd probably be a sin against god not to martyr myself there. The danger is religious / national zealotry enforced by all the elders who train and deploy their youths to their deaths. I'd either a: suicide against Israel or b: suicide against my own elders for forcing that life upon me, if it's even possible for a Palestinian to see it that way.
It takes two to tango. At any time the Palestinians can reject their life of terror. They do not have to kill or be killed. As a group they can reject violence, and as a result the world would reject violence against them. It's a simple process until you take into account the people who want martyrdom - forcing the rest of their Palestinians to follow suit.
Are you asking if we can empathize for them? Sure...
Far as I'm concerned the most humane thing to do is to invade and kill their fighters, kill their leaders, kill of whole bunch of terrorists. Seize control and disarm the entire population. Force a decisive victory against them, remove their capacity for violence.
You stop the conflict today, whatever the cost, and you won't have to keep watching the violence / suffering for this unending war trickle in over the next hundred years. Future generations would have this mess cleaned up. They could begin to heal and move on. Instead of watching it drag out their entire lives.
Pain and suffering is bad, but pain and suffering over time, over decades and centuries, that is a true nightmare. Prolonging this violence is far worse than the initial down payment used to end it. If you care about them, you'd commit yourself to seeing this end by freeing them of their martyrs.
