I, for one, would join Magneto.

Having seen the Republican party survive 2004, I would have no faith in the average person ever being able to just "get along".

With that kind of power I would not be able to tolerate the idiocy and intolerance of the average person.


Imagine, you have the powers of Magneto, and some bunch of Fred Phelps type protestors start some ****** with you....

I would be a loner, not siding with either one. Or maybe like Wolverine, where I'm not so much in it to help one side, as I am to make sure that people who help me don't get killed.
 
Cutting people in half is hardly hugging. Both sides are violent killers, but one side kills innocents and the other kills the guys killing innocents if diplomacy fails.

I guess you forgot his mutant powers which deal with rapid healing from any wound, significantly longer lifespan, greatly increased senses, greater than average strength and stamina, etc. Some incarnations of Wolverine can regenerate half their body in less than a day. Cyclops wouldn't win in a fight, he'd be chopped up, and any damage dealt to Wolverine would heal near instantly...
 
Why doesn't Cyclops just use his laser eyes to kill all the bad guys? Even if he misses it still makes a pretty big explosion and the shrapnel can still kill if the 'splosion don't.

Because then the series would be boring and quickly end. Marvel wouldn't make any money, nobody'd like comic books, and dorks on the internet wouldn't have anything to argue over.

Nope. Laser eyes would chop him in half plus they are long range and ultra-fast WAY faster than Wolverine at least. If Wolverine even got close to Cyclops his laser eyes would go right into his head, effectively cutting Wolverines head off. Ha, I'd like to see Wolverine grow a new head.

Wolverine > The Phoneix (Jean) > Cyclops (Scott)

I've never seen a Cyclops incarnation do that kind of damage, it's mostly forceful blunt damage and not penetrating, from most comics. But I HAVE seen Wolverine regenerate his whole entire bottom half.

Wolverine is easily beaten by some mutants, but not by the likes of Cyclops. Unless you're making up the rules as you go. 😉

Is his power even laser eyes or is it some other type of focused energy beam? Who's to say his beam has the same properties as lasers?

All they'd have to do is reflect it back at him. There are plenty of mutants that are immune to his power anyways (Magneto, Apocalypse, and Juggernaut come to mind).

Thats like saying why doesn't Charles just kill everyone with his mind, or Magneto suck all the metals ouf of the crust, thus tearing the entire world to pieces in the process.

Shapeshifters can look like anyone. Shape shifting can't give you amazing regeneration, longer life span, control over magnetic fields, mind control, control over fire or ice or walk through walls, blah blah blah.
