I find so many things that look good in the store but it just won't fit my frame - pisses me off. I have a 42" chest 32/33" waist, and I usually buy 30" inseam pants because I don't have a choice but when I can find them I'll buy 28" inseam jeans. My problem is that I need a large shirt to fit the circumference of my chest but those typically have the armholes not placed good for me, or they get too baggy in the abdomen area (and I got a beer belly going on and they are still baggy), or they will be really long. I try not to buy shirts with pockets on them due the fact the pockets look distorted on my frame.

I usually shop at Banana Republic. They seem to be about the closest thing for 'petite' men. I like their style and fit, and when they have stuff on sale the prices can be reasonable.

You have a 42" chest? And I thought I had it bad with a 36/37" chest for my height. Most shirts fit me fine as long as I tuck them. However, it's very hard to find casual shirts that should sit just below the waist, and not down to the knees.

I don't care about inseams when buying pants anymore. I think I'm a 27" inseam, and can never find 30"-32" waist plus 28" inseam. Now, just find the proper waist, and bring it home to shorten.

Banana Republic? I'll admit that they're a bit rich for my blood, but the times I've been in, they rarely have anything that appear my size. H&M and American Eagle have XS sizes that actually fit me very well. I doubt those styles work on someone out of their 20s though.

Anyhow, I am 31 and in my life I only remember dating one girl way back in high school who was shorter than me. All of the other girls I have dated have been taller. I think the tallest one was probably 5'10" and my fiancee is around 5'6'". It may be cliche but I think how one presents themselves has a lot to do with interacting with the opposite sex. So many shorter guys probably do not have a lot of confidence - from me observing others - and I think that can be a turn-off more-so than just their height.

My biggest complaint is that I have a tough time buying clothes that fit me well, outside of that I honestly never see myself as 'short' but I do get thrown for a loop when I see myself in a photograph with friends who are more average in height.

Good for you. There was a 5'10" person whom I clicked with almost instantly a few years back. As far as I could tell, the feeling was mutual, but being 5'4", I friend-zoned her instantly.

Clothes buying really does suck. I keep having to throw stuff into the back of the closet because I thought they looked great when I bought them. After a day or two wearing them, they just didn't 'feel' good because they didn't fit me well enough. Short legs do not lend themselves well to even slightly oversized clothing.

find yourself a good tailor

adjusting the length on pants is <20$ and taking a shirt in should be roughly the same as long as the shoulders and arms fit the bottom part can be tapered to make it less blousy easily because most shirts I find are made for people with enormous guts even slim fit shirts have to much in the belly area for me

Yeah, I'm built more like a dwarf than a hobbit. Even at my skinniest in high school I weighed 150lbs at 5'4" with a 28" waist and a 40" chest. I do need to drop around 15 - 20lbs but I am a bit more 'fuller' now than I was back then.

I recently bought two Ralph Lauren suits (42 short) that for the most part fit very well and did not need too much tailoring. I have bought some stuff at H&M but I do not care for their quality; both the fiancee and I had stuff just fall apart after a year of wear. I don't care for American Eagle all that much.

I have had my suits and khaki pants tailored, but I am just too lazy to take jeans in to have the inseam fixed. I have had some dress shirts fixed, but I also have bought a lot of casual button down shirts and I just never got around to have those things tailored. I would rather bitch about it online!

Meh, old news. I already had that done to lengthen my right tibia about 2 1/4" inches. 😛

you had the ole left side longer than the right side thing going on, eh?

lol yep.

BTW everyone the new bone is actually stronger than the original stuff.

I was considering having the same thing in my left leg. That was almost 10 years ago, though I'm sure they've improved the technique

I've heard a lot of complaints about H&M quality, but have never had an issue with their stuff before. I've got shirts and sweaters I've worn to death for 3 years that still look very good. Their 'slim fit' suits/jackets fit very well on me. Still have to find a tailor to shorten the sleeves on a new suit though.

Did it hurt?

Hurt like a bitch when it was first put in and all the bones were cut apart. Lengthening itself didn't hurt. Just felt kind of weird since your leg is being pulled apart from the inside.

i do remember an old 20/20 where they had women judge men behind one way glass as datable or not. the testers would assign arbitrary job titles to said men. needless to say the women would reject short men even if they were described as doctors and such preferring the taller men instead. its a big negative lol

Only in that controlled situation. In the real world things are much different.

Needless to say, short guys have it tougher, but I've known quite a few that have had much success with the ladies.

Teh Internets would disagree with you.

Cool, I just spotted http//link in the post reply, I used to do it manually 😱

That link doesn't really prove the previous poster entirely incorrect, in fact it partially supports him!

While women usually desire men that are at least the same height as themselves or taller, other factors also determine male attractiveness.[10]

Did you even read the link you posted to refute the other guy??!!

Also, part of what I assume you were using to counter the point was this:
Cosmopolitan Magazine published an article stating that women are most attracted to men who are 1.1 times their own height.

Cosmo Magazine!! To begin with I typically try not to rely on Wikipedia for my information, but to have a Wikipedia article cite Cosmo is just beyond silly.

of course other factors apply no one said it was a lone factor😛 but it is a major component in female mate choice. and it jives with basic evolutionary psychology.

Ive actually had a few of these procedures done. Here's a somewhat graphic picture that I took while I was still wearing the thing...
