If you want to pick up women, learn to dance

For all you geeks, I figured I'd offer a little advice regarding women. If you're looking to pick up a gal, learn to dance. There are plenty of places to dance anywhere you go, moreso in major cities of course. Don't bother with club dancing, gyrating to house music is not impressive. Learn West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, Hustle, Salsa, etc... The sexy dances attract a lot of young, attractive women. Ballroom is very good as well (e.g. waltz, foxtrot, rumba, cha cha), however these are competitive dances and require a lot of technique, skill and time to do correctly.

Go to these dances and you'll see some incredibly attractive women dancing with incredibly ugly guys. On the dance floor, attractiveness isn't a big issue; it's how you move. If you're a slick dancer, the women will fall all over themselves to dance with you, period. I actually met my fiancee at a social dance.

Just a little fyi, do with that info as you will :) Also, if you live in the DC metro area and you want to know of some good studios to learn at, PM me and I can offer some info.

BUT, I do agree with the OP.. women will dance and hang out with virtually any guy as long as they try and dance.
I just can't bring myself to do it. Once I'm drunk enough to dance, I'm too busy drinking to dance.

Or, you could master one of the techniques for picking up women without learning to dance.

I dated a guy from Colombia that could salsa, merengui, etc. Guys, I hate to tell ya, but the OP is right. Dancing like that is sexy and fun. If you're willing to learn I'd say it's definitely worth it.

Good advice, but most of us would be too scared tbh.

I was at first; then I just said "fvck it" and learned. It kinda sucks to see that beautiful 5'11" girl in the skimpy dress dancing with an ugly 50 year old dude.

The people who say only gay guys know how to dance are just too scared to try it themselves.

Ignorance abounds.

I met my current gf at a dance club (80s music, not hip-hop)

Especially if you learn to dance salsa or merengue, you WILL get women. I'm 38, mosly a white boy with dark features so I sometimes pass as latino but couldn't dance to save my life, even after 20 tequila shots. Learned salsa and merengue dancing and I couldn't go a minute without women calling me or picking me up. Learn to dance, especially if you are a whiteboy (nothing racial, but lets face it, whiteboys can't dance). Its a chick magnet. (for all the chicks out there who hate being called "chicks" I apologize).

We can dance if we want to, we can leave your friends behind. Because your friends don't dance, and if they don't dance, they're no friends of mine.

i've already got some rhythm i should really take some formal classes cuz in my experience, just from being to a few formals and weddings you are absolutely right, the girls were lining up to dance with me.

Unfortunately, a lot of guys just think it's "gay", so they'll remain ignorant ;)

Don't sell yourself short. I know a guy who couldn't count music; couldn't pickout the '1'; after a few years he's a fantastic dancer. Some people don't have a whole lot of talent, but skill can be learned.
