Catch a cold that completely disables your taste and smell receptors. Not sure what kind of bug I have but I can't taste or smell *anything*. And haven't for the last 4 days.

I've got no appetite. There's no reward or delight in eating. Yesterday I went 10 hours until I stopped and realized I hadn't ate anything. And when I did it wasn't much because there was no satisfaction in eating.

I can't smell a tub vicks vapor rub right under my nose. Can't taste a spoonful of hot sauce. Those senses are gone. It's weird.

Upshot is that changing poopy diapers on my 2 year old are now less nasty since there's no smell associated with it.

So...I'm going to work on marketing the next big thing in dieting. A pill that disables your taste and smell sensors and then follow it with a shakeology system that no matter how bad it tastes, you'll never know! People will shed pounds like crazy.

I'll make millions!
 
with your sinuses congested and your nose blocked, a good portion of taste is removed. Plus being sick makes me too tired to eat much.

weight loss is just temporary.
 
The weight all comes back once you get better though... what you need is something more permanent. Perhaps cancer? :\

Well actually you don't need cancer, you just need the chemo. 😛
 
no weight loss without trying. period. shit.... I try and I can just maintain my overweightness.
 
You'll regain the weight once the cold is over.

And it's not good to not eat as the body will eventually rebel and send you into "starvation mode" where your metabolism will slow to crawl to conserve energy. Proven fact.

If you really want to lose weight (without trying), eat veggies/some protein and eat a bite of something healthy every two hrs until 7PM.

It takes ~3500 calories to burn 1 pound so if you stick to veggies (extremely low cal.), you'll knock off that 3500 easily in a week.
 
+1 for being sick. Barely been eating, and of course both me and the girlfriend would get sick as soon as we get a puppy. 😛

Well yeah. But veggies only taste good when they are wrapped in bacon, smothered in butter, or dunked in ranch. None of which is conductive to weight loss. 😛

With a non-functioning taste buds or olfactory nerve, a plate of kale and arugula tastes no different than a fat juicy steak. It's just a texture difference at that point.

It's very bizarre going to get something sweet and not having that rush of sugar hit your tongue. Or a savory dish and not have the salty bite that you expect. It's just nothing.
