Agreed. I find yard work very rewarding.

Same here. A couple days ago my sons and I spent about 5 hours spreading 3 cu. yards of mulch, limbing up the trees, trimming back the over grown perennials and shrubs in the beds, and weeding the garden.

Time well spent together.:)

I tend to like doing stuff around the yard too, though it's a double edge sword, if it's hot out and I get all sweaty and crap I just don't enjoy it as much and get tired fast, but I just work at my own pace, if I want to go inside and stand in front of a fan or the AC for 10 minutes to cool off, I go do that, then go back outside. I find I don't tollerate the heat as much as I did when I was young.

I do want to build a shed though, that will make a fun summer project. Debating on doing it this year or waiting, as there's lot of other things I could spend that money on like a new patio door, which I badly need.

I don't mind mowing. My yard isn't very big so it doesn't take long. I don't do anything with it though as far as other upkeep.
Waste of Water
Waste of Countless other product costs that go down the drain (ant killer, weed killer, fertilizer, hoses, etc.. etc..)

Some of the guys i work with though... mowing is their #1 topic of conversation in the summer. If they didn't tell you that they mowed the day before they gotta tell you it's what the have to do when they get home.
It's horrible when it rains for several days in a row, then they bitch all day that they haven't been able to mow.

I have a very hilly and weedy yard. And allergies. And we've had so much rain this year in Colorado that I've only been able to keep half of it down, so half of it is several feet high.

I've always wanted to get that fake lawn stuff they use to make miniature golf courses and replace the lawn with that, then push the lawnmower over it a couple of times a month at my maximum running speed (pushing a mower) and watch the puzzled look on the neighbor's faces.

"Wtf?"

"Did you see that guy?"

"I know right wtf is he doing?"

"That guy is crazy"

"I heard he works for the CIA"

"The Culinary Institute of America?"

"No you duncecap the other CIA"

"I heard he works for the NSA"

"Fscking spy...fscking crazy spy"

"I heard he's a pedophile"

"Fscking pedo spy...fscking crazy pedo spy!"

"Well I don't want my kids going anywhere near that place that guy is nuts"

....

No more need to tell kids to get off my lawn.
