I have an older motorola v600, with some very good standard ringers, like Continental. My new Razr came with very few ringers, and most are crap. I don't like having tunes or what not, I just want a decent sounding ringer.

I have the motorola software and everything needed to transfer a ringer, but anyone knows where to download decent ringers, or even better, the original Continental ringer?

Edit: did it myself manually.
If anyone's interested:

...I have the motorola software and everything needed to transfer a ringer...

That means you have Melody Studio
  • Melody Studio lets you select your favorite music extracts and use them as ring tones for your mobile phone.

Melody Studio converts sound files, including those from audio CDs, to a format which is compatible with your mobile phone.

Using its editing functions, you can select an extract, change the tempo, and define fade in and fade out effects.

This wizard shows you how to select an extract, save it and send it to your mobile phone...
You'll need to have the proper phone selected in MPT:
  • When MPT detects your phone, it reads an ID String stored in the phone. Since Verizon disabled the "multimedia features" of the phone, Verizon Phones identify themselves as V710, E815, V3C, etc... BUT to get MPT to show the MultiMedia Studio option, MPT needs to see the phone as V710M, E815M, V3CM...

There are 3 Tricks to cause the MultiMedia Studio Icon to be displayed, you only need to do ONE of them.... Options 2 and 3 must be done PRIOR to MPT detecting your phone. Option 1 must be done AFTER Mpt detects your phone.

    1. use MPT's SETUP menu -> General Setup -> Communication tab -> Change Modem -> click Next -> (select device screen, highlight your Moto USB modem) -> click Next -> check the box for "Do not automatically detect the driver -> click Next -> Select CDMA from the left column. V710 users Select V710M, E815 users select E815M, and V3C users select V3CM from the right column and click Next and finish. It should go back to Initializing on the MPT screen, but should connect. From the icons on the right, you should now see Multimedia Studio in the icon bar on the right...
You can turn any segment of any song into a small ringtone. You'll be limited only by your imagination.

Ornery, thanks for the post but I already knew how to use the MPT and Melody Studio. My issue is I didn't want to spend time creating new ring tones or whatever, I just needed the continental ringer from the older Motorola models.

In the end I manually recorded my V600 ringing, edited the sound file a bit and uploaded it to my Razr. Works very well.

Wow, I think you already put as much effort into editing that one, as a custom one would require.

I just ask people who their favorite artist is, and snag the best hook I can find from one of their biggest hits. That becomes their ringtone ID. One Croation guy I work with is named Rolan. His ringtone is the Theme from Rawhide:
  • Theme from Rawhide
    - Rowdy Gaines

    Rollin', rollin', rollin'
    Rollin', rollin', rollin'
    Rollin', rollin', rollin'
    Rollin', rollin', rollin'
    Rawhide!

    Rollin', rollin', rollin'
    Though the streams are swollen
    Keep them dogies rollin'
    Rawhide
    Rain and wind and weather
    Hellbent for leather
Wishin' my gal was by my side
    All the things I'm missin'
    Good victuals, love and kissin'
Are waiting at the end of my ride

    {Refrain}
Move 'em on, head 'em up
Head 'em up, move 'em on
Move 'em on, head 'em up
    Rawhide
Count 'em out, ride 'em in
Ride 'em in, count 'em out
Count 'em out, ride 'em in
    Rawhide

    Keep movin', movin', movin'
    Though they're disapprovin'
    Keep them dogies movin'
    Rawhide
    Don't try to understand 'em
Just rope 'em, pull and brand 'em
Soon we'll be living high and wide
    My hearts calculatin'
My true love will be waitin'
Be waitin' at the end of my ride
Of course, I just snip the first 20 seconds of it. :D

heh :)

My problem is that I often miss calls when using ring tunes (don't hear the phone ringing), while I'll never miss a simple DRING DRING. I'm surprised most people don't seem to mind.

I edit MIDI files from the Classical MIDI Archives. Virtually unlimited ringtones FTW.
