It looks like all I have to do is enter it manually the day the transaction occurs, and when the CC company's website updates, Money will download it, notice they're the same but that the entires are slightly different, and simply ask me to accept it. So it looks like I can sync online, and as long as everything comes in the same, I'm good.

I am amazed that so many people do not download their transactions...wow!

I don't enter anything from my checkbook into Money; I wait for the download and then enter the payee. I pay all the bills I possibly can on-line. Now I never even open my monthly bank statements.
Do you use Money for a CC? If so you don't mind your records being three days old just like the CC's website is?

why are you so concerned about knowing your balance every day?

Because I don't spend much and want to be sure of every transaction. For example, I might be deciding whether to go to dinner one night or not. Whether I've spent any money in the past few days might help me decide if I should or shouldn't.

Originally posted by: sygyzy2. Another problem with syncing is say you go to a restaurant and charge your meal today (07-14-05). Sometimes the transaction won't show up til the end of the week and the charge a day later. Just one example. Then say you want to look back and say "when did I have that meal with the wifey? Was it Thursday, or Saturday?" You'll never know.
You can tell Money not to overwrite your dates with their dates.

If you don't spend much, how do you not remember whether or not you've spent money in the last 3 days?

I think it'd be easy to forget I spent $15 on gas three days ago when I'm trying to decide if I should go out to eat one night.

I use Quicken, and do not use online synching only because I'm anal and don't trust automated features. I'd rather go through each and every transaction myself.

However, I can see where it would be useful/practical. I usually only balance my "checkbook" (on Quicken) once per month. So in this situation (or if I made a LOT of transactions) it may be helpful to just login and have it download all my wheelings & dealings for me.

On the flip side, if you are balancing your checkbook on a much more regular basis (i.e. once per week or more often), or only making a few transactions, I can't imagine that it would save you a lot of time. And realistically, you should probably be double-checking it anyway.

which one is the better one out right now? Money or Quicken?
