If you start defragging and then stop it half way through...

is it HALF done defragging, or is it more messed up than it would have been if you hadn't started in the first place?

SWEEET. I'll be sure to take my digital cam and get pics of WWI.

Damn these 250 gig drives take a LOOOONG time to defrag. :(

I bought MOHPA last night, installed it and it ran fine. Then all of a sudden after playing it for several hours, it started dumping me back to the desk top when I tried to start it. I though defragging might help?

Stupid damn game....

I usually hit myself in the forehead with a baseball bat.

No, it doesn't really help.

Not that I have ANYTHING against Japanese folks mind you!

Well, MOHPA is officially A PIECE OF CRAP!

I could NEVER get it running again.

Glad I bought it from Costco, they take ANYTHING back. :)

EA? I think he's talking about the half done defragging screwing up his comp, not EA.

Stupid damn game....

I picked the game up last night and installed it. Installed the patch and when trying to log on to the multiplayer option I am getting an error message that says "cannot connect to the chat server."

So tonight just in case there was an issue with my router or the firewall on the machine, I disconnected my router and hooked my machine directly to the cable modem, and then disabled the firewall on my machine and tried to connect. Still got the same error message.

In checking the EA Games forums I can see where others are having this problem. This sucks. So far EA has not offered any assistance with this problem. I am going to return the game tomorrow and get a new set of CDs and reinstall the game. Just in case there is an issue with the installation. I'm at a loss as to what else it couild be. If that doesn't fix it, I guess I am going to skip this game.

I think the fact they are requiring people to log into a "chat" server or any other server for that matter, in order to pull up the multiplayer server list is a bad idea on their part.

I was looking forward to playing this game. :(

EDIT: I defraged my HD before installing the game and the defrag ran fine. I've never had one quit on me in the middle of a defrag.

Neither... Depending on the defrag program you are using (and whether it is on FAT or NTFS).

If you started with enough free space to form contiguous individual files after the defrag starts, then
you can end up with the drive more defragged than before, but not necessarily 50%.

If you stop the defrag correctly, you have little chance of it being more messed up. But if you
are shutting down the system or killing the defrag app while it is running, then it has no chance
to mark its stopping point.

Even NTFS still can benefit from defragging after heavy or long usage.

If your drive is messed up from stopping defrag, then you need to check for other things causing
problems with the drive.
