Dont think so - still contains nicotine...I could be wrong, but I dont know why you would be able to under 18

I was 14 when I first tried a cigarette - I was just curious why people smoked. I used to smoke a cigarette every day after school (with a friend) but neither of us felt the nicotine kick/buzz that smokers often talked about. Two weeks later, we failed to see any benefit and both quit.

Then, when I was 17 (freshman year in college), I tried one again. This time, I got hooked. Why? I don't know. It just felt....what's the word?

Started around 14, smoked til around 30, quit cold turkey, can't stand the smell of it now, and really hate the whole concept that a company can literally market a product who's sole purpose is to make you terminally ill.

Because it looked cool. I smoked for almost 35 years (started when I was 14). I quit for two years 4 years ago, then started back up. I'm now quit once again. I took off the last patch last month, so I'm smoke free and crutchless.

Started smoking everything in 10 grade. I'm a senior now. I started because I hate my parents. I still do :).

He asked a question to people who've smoked dumbshit. So if the question isn't for you, STFU and leave the thread.

I tried a cigarette when I was 12. Didn't really like it. Had another when I turned 18 just because I legally could. Didn't like it then either. Don't smoke now.

Tried a Swisher Sweet Cigar a few months ago. It tasted like ass, and my lung felt like it was going to shrivel up and disintegrate. This was after just 1 long puff. I don't know why people smoke, it's digusting. I'll hit up a hookah with my friends a couple times a month, but smoking cigarettes or cigars are STUPID imo.

Was 17 and drunk, someone gave me one and I said why not. Smoked throughout my first year of college as a way to relieve stress. I'm quitting for the summer (2 weeks cig free cold turkey).

I was about 19 and I smoked my first cig on a mushroom trip. I smoked for about 6 months after and quit.

i started a month ago
i did it because i felt like being self-destructive... i'm going through some personal pain right now and i just felt like lighting up one night after a few drinks.

once i start seeing patients daily, i'm going to quit. i'm not about to have my breath and hands smell like gross cigarettes smoke whenever i'm trying to treat patients.

the smoking is only a short-term thing for me... i know that i won't stay a smoker.

it is true, though... drinking is more enjoyable whenever it's followed with a cigarette.

No cigs for me....just hookah. Did it a lot more when at school with my friends, but I'd say at home my buddies and I light one up maybe once a week or so. Great way to relax and shoot the sh!t with each other, and it tastes awesome :p

Started at 19 because they went so well with beer.

Quit at 23 because I was too cheap to keep buying them.

Been smoking for 37 years now, started when I was 13.
I started smoking because it was "cool". Couldn't stand them, couldn't even inhale the smoke! But I persevered and kept forcing myself to tolerate them until I could smoke just like the rest of the "cool" guys.
Never a health problem at all, even when I got up to 3-4 packs a day, until 1- 1/2 years ago. Got the flu, turned into Pneumonia, now it seems I was in a lot worse shape than I ever imagined! I can barely WALK 40 yards without being out of breath, and the Drs. say I don't have long to live as it is due to the scarring in my lungs and the adverse effects that the shortage of oxygen (I have a less than 40% Oxygen absorption rate) is having on my heart and other internal organs, (including my brain,) but I could prolong the inevitable (some) by quitting.
I'm struggling to quit, I have tried ALL the patches, Gums, Pills, Lozenges, etc., have been trying for a year now, but it's my "Stress reliever" and stress is pretty much my job and my marriage.

Smoking isn't so cool now.

I started soon after I was legally able to buy them. Oh, I had tried a few before then, but not enough to amount to anything. I don't think I had any real reason other than I thought it was cool. I don't recall using it as a buzz enhancer so much as an image enhancer, meaning I'd light up whenever I saw hot chicks in the vicinity. It took a long time for me to realize how pathetic THAT was. I was influenced by people that I thought were cool. Well really they WERE cool people, but I was too immature to realize that smoking had nothing to do with that perceived coolness.

Oh, I know how it is. I must have tried 20 or so times last year to quit. I used the mental method I used the last time I successfully quit: as a goal to achieve before the end of the year. I used patches as the physical.

It helps, though, to have a close family member die of lung cancer.

haha what were you tripping on?

edit:

oh and I started smoking when I was 19, up until 21 then I quit because I realized that if I want to smoke, I'll smoke pot.. not cigarettes. Cigarettes are disgusting, at least pot gets me high and has anti-cancerous enzymes

I hated smoking because my mom was a smoker and I vowed never to start. But I always thought that if it wasn't so unhealthy I'd definately smoke (step one to starting). Then I started hanging out with a bunch of people who smoked (step two to smoking). Then I took mushrooms for the first time and started smoking (step three-intoxication). After that I dabbled a bit until finally starting completely. This was when I was 16.

I quit two and a half years ago though. I don't see how I would have ever not started, my entire circle of friends smoked and there was just no way to have avoided it.
