Download this video. It is of the very first section of risen on the beach. See the line that moves through the shadows causing the shadows to go from fuzzy to clear.
I hate this line. It is in all my games and ruining my experience.
If you own a nvidia card and this game can you tell me if you experience the same thing and can someone upload a video. Cause if it not on the new fermis I will need to change.
If you own a 5850 and this is not on yours let me know. It is possible my card is just bad. If so I need to get this fixed.

I could use help as I cannot live with this the way it is.

Yea I have been reading your posts and I don't understand if there is a line why more people aren't complaining about it?

Is it one of those "once you see it you can't go back" type of thing?

Anisotropic is at 16x in that video and the everything else is max. This happens on all games. Yeah it is one of those things I can't unsee.

Except in that review anand states : "
. And even the 5870 with its regular texture problem still does well in everything we’ve tested except Trackmania"

Which makes me wonder what is going on.. because I am sure they would see this shadow thing as it happens everywhere.

edit* Okay.. now I am even more confused. There is a setting called shadow map view distance in the ini. If I increase this then the line in which it goes from blur to clear is pushed out even further away. Which makes it very tolerable for me, but probably is a huge perf hit. Unsure though. Now I really want to know how Nvidia resolves this same issue.

Okay.. update.. I rolled back to the 10.4 drivers that everyone seems to love.
Stairstepping on shadows is gone.
It still does that blurry to unblurry thing you seen in the risen shot, but it is not anywhere near as noticeable.. on top of which i pushed that out so it is not really noticeable. GTA4 still does the appearing shadows, but again far less noticeable.. also seeing less shimmer than I was.. which is nice.
Games are all good again.
I may try a newer set of drivers but so far these see pretty good.
