Question If you own a 1060 GTX , dont jump to 1660, jump to 2060

i have many reasons to recommend to jump to 2060 RTX
1. the new technology on apps and windows 10, only 2060 is avaiable for back noise block and nvidia streamming app
2. 1660 gives less FPs and 20 degress more temp than dual asus gtx 1060

as you can see in this video, 1060 is better

also i did a benchmark, and 1060 gave me like 40 points more as final result, the difference is minimal but, when you buy a 1660 is like you are buying a 1060.. so.. dont upgrade from 1060 to 1660, is practically the same

also i had some troubles with old computers and windows 7

i had to solve it installing some extra official updates from microsoft windows 7
so, trust in me, and if you are going to jump to a modern GPU and you have an old computer or 1080p Screen, go for RTX 2060.

In all seriousness though, we're part way through the launch of the RTX3xxx series and right on the cusp of the Radeon 6xxx series launch.

If you're still on a 1060 and the card isn't dead, just wait to see what everyone drops with their latest gen. Might have to wait till after the holidays for some cards and availability, but picking up a 2060 brand new at this point just doesn't make a lot of sense IMO.

too higher power consumption
a 3090 will depend of the user, if you are still under a 1080 screen, is better the 2060
rtx arrived with new technologies and software, im waiting for a gpu card that consumes like the 1060 but as RTX, that will be my next jump

but if someoen can spend more money in electricity every month, go for the 3090

The RTX 3090's GA102 GPU core itself will draw roughly 230 watts of power with the memory drawing 60 watts. The MOSFETs will consume a further 30 watts of power with the fan coming in at 7 watts. PCB losses are expected to be in the range of 15 watts and input section consumption will be around 4 watts.

2060 Super makes more sense I think. Even then, the upgrade is not that big. I would say 2070 Super would be a good worthwhile upgrade to start with, or as mentioned, wait for more of the new cards.

I think OP's entire premise is fatally-flawed. Using GTA V as a benchmark to compare cards, you have to be careful, as it will adjust the settings, depending on what card that you have installed.

So Op's benchmark might be totally wrong, possibly the GTX 1660 card defaulted to higher settings.

i did a benchmark with a software too, 40 points difference winning gtx 1060
