I've been asked to find out if there are any good values in a kid's system where there's only $50 budget for a video card. What was everybody happy with before the latest round of GeForce cards? Oh - it has to be PCI too.

Hmm try to find VooDoo3 or even higher with $50, shouldnt be too hard to find.

I would suggest u add little more and get Radeon LE or GeforceMX as they will perform better, but they wont shine with slow processor so it depends.

almost the only thing you can get with $50 PCI is a Voodoo 3, maybe 3000, at least a 2000.

I agree, the Voodoo3 2000 would probably be your best choice considering the $$ and PCI circumstances.

you're pretty locked in with a v3 pci. I've seen on the forsale/trade boards the occasional ATI xpert 128 16mb pci for $35 or so. Those are decent, not as fast as the v3, but has dvd, better 2d etc. you might be able to get a tnt2 m64 pci or something, which would also be a decent buy
