Years ago I bought 16 large drives and got a great discount for the quantity. I don't see anyone with quantity discounts anymore - is my quantity too small to get a discount?

What kind of HDDs are we talking? Are you looking for enterprise / pro NAS drives? New only or is refurb ok? I know goharddrive has great discounts on enterprise refurbs, and often gives their own warranty, even if the manufacturer warranty expired. I am no sure if there is a volume discount exactly, but there might be. I ordered 4 12TB WD data center refurb drives from them a while back for a NAS system.

Here is a decent deal on similar drives, looks like the 12TB Ultrastars may be gone. For a while they were going for around $80 each. But this deal is still decent. https://www.ebay.com/itm/167206684222

I have noticed a significant increase in hard drive prices. Lasy May, I got 8 of those refurbed 12 TB Hitachi Ultrastar drives for half what this 14 TB is running. Prior to that I was getting 4 TB Seagate drives for 40USD they are running 60USD now. Probably a big data center drive dump drove the prices down? You have to keep watching prices because you never know when that will happen.

That many should be able to get some discount. There is a saying about the risks of asking, "The worst that can happen is they respond NO". Contact a couple sellers and ask what their best price is for that quantity. Then whoever is lower, ask the other if they can do any better.
