If you make $70k/yr is a $400 Christmas bonus a slap in the face?

No bonus, and never going to get one here, did get a 10% raise the other day. Not going to complain, never thought I'd see more money without a fight for it.

because I was expecting a lot more

Depends on the company. Is it small and barely making a profit? If so then don't complain. If also you like your job then especially don't complain.

In this day and age be thankful you have a good paying job.

I make over 100k but no xmas bonus. However the benefits are amazing and I absolutely love what I do.

In the 90s I had a job out of college that paid well and we got nice xmas bonus and also a nice stock purchase plan. However, I absolutely hated my job at that time and was miserable but back then it was easy to find another job.

Keep it in perspective and count your blessings.

Last year I made barely half of what you make and I got a $1500 bonus. Not a holiday or xmas bonus though, it's an annual performance bonus and I had amazing metrics, worked on various projects and stuff. Put everything in my favor. The bonus usually gets paid out in February though.

This year I moved to a new position and also had a really good year for metrics and things, so I'm hoping for a good bonus again.

Never had any bonuses at any previous jobs and I can't imagine complaining about the bonus not being good enough. LOL

I average about $48K/yr, our bonus was a $25 Wal-mart gift card, meh, but it turned out OK, I needed a new toaster oven and the $25 covered most of it..

I'd be happy to have a job that pays $70k (more than I make), $400 is fine with me.

I'll take it off your hands, PM me for my info.

What's really fucked up is a guy on a $70k salary bitching about $400 thrown in his lap for doing nothing but showing up for work.

Best bonus I ever received was around 4k, now at my current company there is none, though they did give me some extra time off which I'm perfectly happy with.

I never worked for a company that gave out Christmas bonuses. Typically my boss would just take all of us out for a Christmas lunch.

so your annual salary is $70,400.00

if you want more you need to find another job.

1%er bragging and noted

My annual income puts me in the top 1%. Last year I got a bottle of wine (approximate value $12) and this year a box of chocolate (approximate value $25). So I've essentially doubled my bonus from last year!

You're also on the 1% mcowen black list then. You don't want to know what this means, but now you're being tracked! Watched!

In today's economy, not being grateful for ANY bonus, let alone having a job, is a slap in the face. :hmm:
