Nelly is a great new rapper ; ), check out Wrap something, and Country Grammar. Man he's on fire! I went to his concert, trust me he rocks! : ) I can't believe he did a concert in Tulsa, oh well I'm not complaining 😛
 
Nelly is garbage.. that is not rap..that's pop music.

if u want to list to some REAL ish check out some common joints like "the light" or "6th sense".

 
Rap... I just downloaded some Eazy-E stuff from back in the day. I cannot beleive I used to like that crap. On the other hand, Vanilla Ice, now there's a rapper (wrapper?) :Q

If you can find "The D.O.C. - Portrait of a Masterpiece" somewhere take a listen. He raps so fast and he is so clear sounding. That does take talent to rap for 3 minutes straight so fast and only have to stop ("to catch my breath" as he says in the song) once.
 
Who here got the new Canibus? You gotta check it out if you haven't already - he's hands down the nastiest lyricist around

And as far as Nelly is concerned, if his cd is anything like "Country Grammar", I'll gladly wipe my ass with that disc every chance I get. 🙂
 
I like Nelly, too. I think the only song I've heard from him though, is "Country Grammar". 😛

Kid Viciou$, have you heard his new album? The beats are 100 times tighter, and a few appearances are made too, Pharoahe Monch, Rakim, Kurupt, and some others too. IMO it's way better than Can-I-bus 🙂

I'm sorry - I LOVE Mos Def, He's one of my favs...but Canibus is a genious when it comes to freestylin. No one can touch him

KidViciou$ - I love Dead Prez for their &quot;realness&quot;, and they also make tight songs. But what's up with that racism? I understand their goals but if they wanna preach their message what's racism gonna do? They open your eyes to their extremist (not saying it isn't true) view of the American society, but they also expose you to a great deal of racism that I honestly don't see a need for. Btw I am white.

genocide - Canibus is such an enigma. He could tear up sh!t left and right if he wanted to but I don't know how highly I can rate his album as a hip hop album. Where are the concepts? All the tracks are for battling. He couldn't even think about thinking about the originality and conceptuality that emcees such as Common, Mos Def, and other cats possess. Also Canibus's beats aren't really anything to call home about.

Kaiser_Sose - I love Mos Def but Canibus would end him in a battle. Mos Def would come with the wit, but Canibus is quite intelligent himself and I think he'd dominate with his aggressive, fast-paced, on point battle lyrics.

the reason i say that Mos Def would tear up Canibus is cause when canibus rhymes he has a tight flow but lyrically he is weak.. his sh!t is not conscious, it's just rhymin words that don't mean jack.
when Def rhymes his flow is tight, his words are tight, and they have meaning,

anyone can say rhymin words, not everyone can make them conscious like mos def, common, guru , etc.

Canibus is in the straig up tight flow but lyrically weak category wit like Eminem, Busta Rhymes, Noreaga etc.
 
C'mon Kaiser_Sose... you can't seriously put Canibus in a group that contains Noreaga (&quot;I drink my hennessy straight, with tomato juice&quot;... you keep doing that Nore 🙂 haha). Anyway, you are underrating Canibus's lyrical abilities. His content isn't special but he is a clever cat, and he can put together some ill similies and metaphors.
