If you install a new CPU and the mobo doesn't even post, is it a sign of a bad cpu?

I just upgraded my bios 1301, which officially supported the E4300 now.

I installed my new cpu and my PC wouldn't even post. I tried clearing the cmos and still I got nothing. I know the cmos was cleared because when I plopped in my old cpu it posted fine and reverted back to default settings.

Does that mean the E4300 is dead, or did asus give me a bad bios?

You'll have to try the new CPU in a known working motherboard, or try a known working CPU in your motherboard. That's the only way to figure it out for sure.
