If you have the *.iso file, what else do you need to burn a DVD?

Using NERO, which is virtually fool proof, I can't get a single burned DVD to play in my Pioneer DVD-333, which is supposed to play anything. I have an *.iso file so, how can I burn that? Can I just burn it as a data file and then a DVD ought to play it?

No. You'll end up with a data DVD that simply has an .ISO file on it. An ISO is an actual image of a disc. It's kinda like a ghost image of a disk. Copying the .GHO file to a hard disk will give you a hard disk with a file on it. You have to actually image it to get what you want. See the Nero help files for info on how to create a disc from an ISO. They are typically CDs, not DVDs too.

No, you can't drag and drop the ISO file in Nero. There's a special way for burning CD/DVD images. Nero can burn ISO images though. Just when you burn an Image file, select the ISO file instead of the NRG file (Nero's Image format).

If that doesn't work, Alcohol 120% is a favourite around here. There's a free trial available.

No, you have to open nero, go to recorder--->burn image, browse for the iso, click it, burn it. On older versiosn I think it is file--->burn image. You can't just make a data disc with it.

Alternatively, you could mount the .ISO file using a virtual CD program like Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120. Then, use Nero to do a DVD-to-DVD copy using the mounted image drive as the source.

Thank you so much!
I think it must be a DVD file because it is 4.5 gigs.

im using nero 6 ultra edition or the nero smart start & when i try to burn the iso onto a dvd it says that the selected media is not supported by nero. i know its not possible to burn a 4.6 gb file onto a cd so is there any other way to try this without having to mount using daemon tools & doing a dvd to dvd copy?

edit: i think ive got it...i set it up as a udf compilation & right now its burning, hopefully itll work

Try doing as mitchafi said. Somewhere in Nero you can select "burn image" or "burn iso" and point it to that. That should do the trick.

If your struggling with Nero to burn the DVD why not just use DVDShrink as the front end for Nero? .........plus you can delete unwanted audio tracks (or crop in Re-Author mode) to ensure it fits.
