If you have a Cooler Master HAF XM , please help.

Well, I just got through building up my rig in a Cooler Master HAF XM case. I was most impressed with the ease of the build and the superior wire management. I'm not the best at wire management, and it looks great.

Anyway, got the whole deal done, and I snap on the side panel, and there is a large gap on the lower front of the latched side panel. It does not secure well at all in that area, and is quite loose.

These latched panels secure differently from the normal slide on types. You don't have the tabs that fit their way into a slot, instead, on the bottom, you have a lip that rolls over a metal ridge. It looks like the factory bends that lip in order to get it to close tightly. I might be able to bend the lip more on the end to get it to cam inwards.

But, before I start bending on a brand new case, and make it worse, or break it, I wanted to see if other XM owners have any problem like that, and ask if you see a slight factory bend on that lip on the door ends like I see. I'm making the assumption that's how the factory gets the doors to close tightly on the ends, and all I have to do is increase the bend a bit. I have emailed Cooler Master, but have not heard back yet. If it's a simple fix, I'll do it. Thanks for your help.

That was odd deal. My neighbor, who is a mechanical engineer, stopped by. We both put the side panel on, saw the gap. Nothing looked out of place to us. We tried it two more times, and presto mundo, it went on perfectly. Who knows. I ordered the optional side window panel, and it has fit perfectly since I got it. Looks great, but you lose the side fan.

This is the best case I have built with. really nice.

thats odd. i have played with my door a few times last night and could not replicate this lol. glad it was better after a few tries.

The one thing I wish was that the bottom hard drive cage came out instead of the top one.

yeah, airflow would be better with the bottom cage out. I'm thinking that temps would be better with the two top fans as intake. This would setup a positive air pressure..

There are little teeth at the bottom that lock into the frame.. if you miss the teeth and shut the case the case will overlap the frame causing a bulge. Sometimes when this happens, the teeth will smash into the side panel and become flat and will not lock into place until you raise them back up.

This happened to my CM Storm Trooper.

The HAF XM has a latch on the side panel, so it's different. It does not have the usual tabs or teeth than engage on the slots of the frame. Instead, it has a rolled edge that rolls over on top of another rolled edge. It does have the slots on the frame for a standard slide on side panel, but they are not used with the latching side panel. I describe it in my first post

Ok, I see. I thought it would have a similar mechanism, sorry I missed that in your post. FWIW, my side panels came slightly warped and you can't notice it unless you take the panel off and look down the side.

It might have been a blob of paint. It's a pretty heavy coat of black inside.

CM should do a better job of packing their cases. I won't buy them online anymore ,
